Loves Rust so much he gave it a PC DVD-ROM. Oh if only Garry was that cool. In all seriousness though, to answer your question in the beginning of the video, I believe it is a 1+1=2 situation. Yes, we as consumers were to willing to settle for less and still pay the same amount for games every year, even though we were aware of the steady decline in quality, and that enables companies to keep getting away with what they've been doing. It grinds my gears when gamers ONLY blame the publishers and/or developers for everything that's wrong with the industry today, when in fact, we had the most control the entire time. Not to get TOO REAL, but it's like someone only blaming one party in a toxic relationship. If someone is impossible to be with, then just leave them and move on. Sure it may be tough in the short run to get over things, but in the long run, you will be much happier than you ever were had you stayed. We never had to buy the soulless garbage these companies put out time and time again, but people are so brainwashed by either FOMO, blind loyalty, or just outright being the worlds biggest consumer buying all the digital crap that keeps getting pumped out. It's a two way street and it's time we as consumers/gamers take responsibility for enabling these companies. JUST. STOP. BUYING.

Love this comment man, you hit the nail on the head. While I always try my best to report on any topic I cover accurately in showing both sides, I'm generally against the commercialization of not just video games, but our economy for our products/services. People pay more to get less, and that's not fair. I think were seeing good pushback from consumers such as the ongoing Ubisoft situation, but I do hope in the near future, we do have more great games. If you look at the movies from the 90's to early 2000's to the games from the 2000's to the 2010's there's a clear decline in quality, but I guess sometimes it has to get worse before it gets better.

Nah, Duckside feels more like a Rust clone. And Facepunch fixed the roofcamper issue many years ago already. So, i was also looking forward, and did the playtest, but was really disappointed. Sluggish aiming, total chaos about spotting enemies, ... nah, nice funny idea, like somebody wrote: an April joke.

Survival games have kinda been in a drought as of recent, there are some alright ones like Vintage story but they suffer from realism in my experience. I know many people who don't enjoy relearning upwards of 20-40 new systems per game they pick up, and why bother when you could play something like Rust or Minecraft instead of relearning something from the bottom up? One of the better examples of a game doing well in the survival category is 7 Days to Die, with its 1.0 release, similarly with No mans sky.
@JackShephardTVКүн бұрын
Yeah 7 Days To Die is still kicking, they would of been a good mention. Hope we can see more innovation in this space, I think there's more great games to come.

Great video and an important conversation to have. Pre-orders and early access games in particular can be a slippery slope and have the potential to be taken advantage of as a quick cash grab. Free early access is obviously great for mass play-testing but paid early access is another thing. All early access can't be as promising as Valheim, I suppose. Oh, and I would say I mostly disagree with the sentiment that game developers should "listen" to their player base more, at least when it comes to developing the actual gameplay aspects of the game in question. Obviously, if big AAA game companies are just blasting out battlepasses and microtransaction content and pushing that above actual game development (Apex Legends comes to mind), then that is annoying and a blatant disregard for what players actually want. But at the same time, I would like to see gamers have more respect for the visions of developers overall rather than feeling entitled to an experience perfectly catered to their wants/needs at all times, especially since 99.99% know absolutely nothing about game dev or balancing something like a survival game (myself included). That's one of my core beliefs moving forward and one of the reasons why I, for example, tend to roll my eyes when Rust players in particular complain about things like the combat update removing spray patterns for aimcone or literally any other thing that people tend to complain about. If the developers think that it suits the game better, then why is it so hard to trust their vision? It is a survival game, after all. Adapt! Okay, rant over. Thank you for the vid and sharing your perspective, Jack!
@PetalYT17 сағат бұрын
The finals is not a survival game but its not putting money before the players which and the game is still amazing the player count is dying because they sadly dont have any advertizing

I myself have felt like games are worse now. Have removed a few my my account on Steam completely for becoming p2w or the cheating has gotten too rampant and nothing is done. Hoping devs start listening.

It really does seem that developers like Facepunch benefit off cheaters and don't plan on stopping them anytime soon. Hopefully Tinybuild won't follow the same strategy with DuckSide..

After reading through the Steam reviews (hardly a good indicator, I'm aware) of both Deadside and Duckside, one common problem seems to stick out on both: cheaters. While I get cheaters are a vulture-like group of assholes willing to pick any game apart for God knows what reason they'll give you, a lot of common complaints center around cheating (primarily in Deadside if you filter within a month.) Duckside has less complaints about it, with more of the complaints being around skill issues and how they got raided when that's to be expected in games like this, it's still a pretty common issue to hear about when skimming the reviews, though people are upset about the lack of being able to host local servers (boo hoo). In short: you're getting exactly what you pay for if you buy Duckside, which is the Rust survival experience.

I blame whales, rmt and ptw clout chasers. Why get good when you can pressure a game to ensure the only winner is the highest bidder. At the end of the day its a business and a job, they care about as much as the person serving you food. you cant increase that care with money per hour just the base expectations placed upon them.

Rust is kinda leaning in the P2W direction with lots of actual gameplay functions sold in DLC. It’s not awful YET, but it’s a slippery slope Also, don’t trust tinbuild. Their games are hot trash with zero cohesive vision.

for Tarkov you did a bad job of researching, although you are right that the game has eternal problems with cheaters, but the accusations of p2w are no longer relevant, I believe that you yourself have not played Tarkov, and only drew conclusions from popular videos a year ago
@user-sx4qu4dz9z22 сағат бұрын
But it’s still something they did. This isn’t Tarkov news bro he was just detailing how one of the most popular hardcore, survival like shooters took steps in the wrong direction. Don’t need to play the game to see that
