The thing map packs gets a special place in my heart for is their honesty in their gameplay. Nowadays levels are full of graphic additions that let down the gameplay experience (alpha trigger you know it) and I can’t appreciate playing GD anymore because of this. One Map Pack level I’ll always remember is Mechanic Downforce by ZenthicAlpha (Demon Pack 15), because even if the level is full of fakes, you can still feel the “texture” of every hitbox you touch, and once you learn the level it feels so satisfying to run between this organized mess of obstacles.

This tbh, I find the map packs to be a good break after playing too many flashy, high cps, modern levels. Just got 5 demon packs left.

Demon levels are NOT 7 stars (excluding new ones) extinction, sidestep ect. (all older gauntlet demons levels) Are a good challenge for people getting into demon levels let alone that those are harder than what we get nowadays. The gauntlet versions of levels being tracked separately from the normal version doesn’t actually stop it from being updated. Magmatic Sanctuary, the final level of the Fire Gauntlet, got updated around a year ago to rework the unstable speed section of the level (which is now known as the erratic speed section), and this affected the version of the level within the gauntlet

Uh, wow. Thanks for using my reupload of the old Dynamic on Track. For those who don't know, the only other reupload of the old Dynamic on Track before mine made some weird changes to it for some reason. There were keys for coin routes for some reason, and it just wasn't the original. After seeing this, I decided pull up a video of the level and edit the copy of the old version on the servers to be the original Dynamic on Track block for block. The only difference in my version is a bugfix for the third "coin" that occurs due to physics BS. All in all, I'm thankful that you used and credited my reupload of the original. Glad I could help with this video! As for me, I'm currently working on a rework of my Dynamic on Track video that got lost to technical issues early this year. Be on the lookout for that if you're interested! As I said, thanks for the credit WHErwin. Good video!

@smjacob.2 ай бұрын
I think dynamic on track is overhated for sure, I don’t think it’s without reason. There were plenty of levels that utilized speed changes just as liberally as dynamic on track at the time, I think the gameplay of dynamic on track is made somewhat intentionally janky in a way that makes it hard to judge. Sure it’s difficult for new players to judge how far they’ll drop at higher speeds, but the added closeness in proximity to spikes makes the whole janky vibe so much greater. Comparing to electrodynamix, it’s very clear once you have a slight grip on the physics how far you’ll go and there’s plenty of leeway in that so if you misjudge it slightly you’ll be fine. Dynamic on track on the other hand places how you fall in such close proximity to spikes, in an other wise normal looking level no matter what path you choose it feels off as you enter it which again, leads to indecisiveness in gameplay and an over janky experience
@X3m.Gaming2 ай бұрын
thinking dynamic on track is overhated huh? someones suffering from invisible difficulty again. the reason why the level is hard is because it has a lot of inputs and every click you do is ether death or not. because of its fast speed it pretty much turns in to a memory level for bad players but if you are good player you cant see any of this because you can sightread just good enough to not die from faster reaction times. new versions is way better than last one. there will never be a worse level than dynamic on track

Great video, wasn't expecting a video actually being positive about the map packs. I completely agree, they're overhated as fuck. Here are some of my favorite map pack levels that weren't mentioned in the video. Demon Park has extremely creative multi-path gameplay that doesn't get talked about that much. The community cares more about the fact that it inspired the demon difficulty, but it's so cool. Although the gameplay isn't that great, Edification has really cool effects where particles create the blocks, which I haven't seen done in any other level. I have a sweet spot for Afterglow because I remember playing it in the featured tab and absolutely loving it. The song is also really nostalgic for me. The Prism has a really cool masking effect with black hexagons on top of a gradient. I just think it looks really cool. StarQuake is incredibly fun, but also overhated due to its difficulty. It was buffdated, but honestly, that didn't make it much worse, it just should not be easy demon. My absolute favorite map pack level has to be Dimension Machine. It's so fun and the repetitive nature of the gameplay is extremely unique. However, there's one problem I have with the level, it has multiple paths, but only the ship path works.

Honestly, I think the Map Packs wouldn’t be so hated if they didn’t have unlockable customization (not direct, but in the form of secret coin and star achievements) tied to them. I don’t have anything specific in mind, but if the Map Packs either gave nothing (aside from the stats that the levels themselves give) or some other number that wasn’t tied to any achievements and just existed for bragging rights upon their completion, I don’t believe they would have as bad of a reputation.

I always think that the map packs are very extremely worth playing. Sure, *beating* them is a different story, but it's a great time capsule on the older days of GD. Tackling a few levels will literally explain to anyone why darnoc and funnygame where considered The Best and even some fun moments can happen with rando levels that might not actually be that special because they are really great in number Playing all of them at once is a big mistake, but I also would recommend not leaving the insane or demon packs for last, as these are the ones that likely take the longest to beat. I have 49 of them completed (51* actually because I saved two levels from earlier packs) and they are all demon packs. These are not levels you wanna beat in the same day in the majority of the time, but I've been working on it every now and then. Definitely a overhated slice of the game, honestly the gauntlets still aren't a better replacement of them, they are just different and more recent so they check a lot of now standardized opinions of the community, but some individual gauntlet levels have taken me more mental willpower than entire insane map packs (I'm looking at you Magic Gauntlet collab levels) Originally from here onwards, I wrote a rant of about 6 paragraphs just sidetracked by my issues with the gauntlets (which can be assumed to be Many) so to go back on the topic: Map Packs are really cool in their own way. I see them just like stumbling unto older levels when I search for random stuff to play, definitely a thing that sorta helps playing when either bored or wanting to accomplish progress in GD without going for extremely hardest levels or taking your chance in the editor Wait Is the thumbnail using that feature where you can pick 2 different thumbnails to see which one "works better" but that everyone uses for stuff like THis???

i always see Map Packs as a museum of old levels. while i admit some of the gps are not functional sometimes. i think these levels are meant to be a showcase of what GD used to be long time ago it server as a great way to showcase new players of what GD has to gone through in order to get what we have today the amount of time, effort and creativity needed for these level despite their limitation is not something you'd see very often nowdays. im not saying level nowdays isnt creative or revolutionary as older levels, we still are pushing what editor could do. but what i meant is that older creators have the same dedication as to creator nowdays just in different time and what im really sad about is just how overhated some of these levels are, heck even some of these creators like sure its not the greatest level nowdays. but thats just how old level works. people are going to compare it to level nowdays and its just not fair people need to appreciate more of these creator's work and effort despite you think its bad or awful. there's a reason why it even made it into the map pack in the first place and not just older creator, creator nowdays too. i just hate how people talk sht about a level because they think its bad but not thinking about time, effort, journey from the creator to get into that point and honestly i think this is the biggest problem GD community has rn, its just how disconnected are between players and creators nowdays

Also honestly I never felt the hate for Dynamic on Track, and I played the old version when I was a newbie. It kicked my ass a bit, as I died to the 3x part plenty of times, but the level itself was relatively fair compared to a lot of other levels of that era.
