When Armada was finishing up, I just moved in with the lady who became my wife, and who remains my wife still... ...and while I was sorta-kinda interested in toy collecting just before that time, I did pick up Hot Shot and Jolt, and the Optimus Prime and Overrun set... that Prime is still on my office desk, weapons hot, defending a pair of moss terraria... My future wife’s cat liked Jolt: one night, I was fidgeting with it, transforming it back and forth to robot and then, helicopter, and then, when I put the helicopter down, the cat snatched it up by the blades and packed it off like some mousy trophy...both our cats learned to accept that the little robots were mine, and left them alone... A couple of years ago, I found an Armada Galvatron in great shape at a second-hand shop, and all it’s missing were the missiles and the minicon Clench...and I’m pleased to say that the new Autobot cars of this line attach to Galvatron, and they look like they belong there! Ahahaha~! Well, realize that I was a kid when the original micromaster sets came out. I had Flak and Topshot and their buddies. Stormcloud and co too, though I really wanted (but couldn't get) Roadhandler and company. Did get the 4th set with a gray mini-van. XD Rebought the Battlepatrol last year tbh. Now their remakes are here. =_= I feeeeeeelllll OLLLLDDD. That aside, I like these new takes on them, though for the price they're going for 4 a set would be better. That aside, these are definitely an upgrade. @Baltmatrix, Stormcloud basically crouched into plane mode in G1. x_x Micromasters weren't bad as such... More transformable than the Throttlebots, definitely! But still, very tiny and basic. Combiner-micromasters weren't great either. Otoh... The Racecarpatrol's combination is ridiculous here.

@@Sparkbomber I had both the Star Saber and Skyboom Shield (dunno why I just bought Mini-Cons. Would kill to travel back in time for a Armada Blurr, Wheeljack, Hoist or Thrust) but I never got the Requiem Blaster. I was close to get it when they were selling a redeco of Overload as Ultra Magnus that had the little space team. Only problem that hindered me was my mother who said no. So 2/3 Armada weapons in possession during that time. Now I just have the half of my Mini-Con collection. Some from Cybertron are gone with the wind too.

Basically, a sword made of planes and a gun made of tank-ish vehicles both make a certain amount of sense, aesthetically. A gun made of cars does not.

Something that kinda bothers me of this line, is the fact that it takes place on cybertron, but they are all clearly earth vehicles. Yeah, maybe a bit futuristic, but futuristic and alien are 2 different things.

I was always a fan of G1 Swindler because he was a Delorean, but it should be noted, Balt, that this one is not. His rear window was changed from the square vented window standard on a delorean to a bubble window typical for a Firebird or Corvette Classic. Also, his headlights are round, not square. Not to mention he doesnt seem to have the gull-wings

I managed to get all three sets of Siege Micromasters released so far, and my only complaint (though it's not a deal breaker) is that the peg on Flak could stand to be a bit longer so the Battle Patrol's weapon mode could be formed with a little less hassle. Also, I'm half-expecting the Air Strike Patrol to be redecoed into new versions of Armada Runway and Jetstorm.

For some reason i thought you had already reviewed these separately and when i saw this video i thought you were doing a thing where you review waves by the size class. I think there is some merit in the idea where you talk about waves after youve reviewed them. Just a general overall of the winners and losers of each wave, how you feel about the direction of them all, etc.

It'd be cool if down the line Hasbro or Takara released repaints of Stormcloud & Whisper in Jetstorm & Runway's colours respectively with a new mold as Sonar for a full Armada throwback. Oddly enough; i always imagine the Star Saber Minicons in their Dark Star Saber colours since that's the set i own. (Beige/gold Runway, light grey/purple Jetstorm, black/purple Sonar) No-one in my house ever got the standard version outside of the Sonar packed with the volume 1 VHS.

I see most insist on using Siege "Skytread"'s original name(Flywheels, of course). But I have yet to see anyone use the Micromaster's original names(Bigshot & Whisper). This is even stranger coming from people who favorited the Battle or Air Strike patrols.

@baltmatrix : In my humble opinion, Topshot & Flak is the BEST combo. "Electroverge Neuro Blaster" is rad. The "Circuitstream Spy Blade" is kinda cool, but not as cool as Electroverge Neuro Blaster. And yes, i TOTALLY agree with you; Multi-mech Particle Exhaust Cannon is lame.

If you updated the vehicle modes to much they'd not look like the characters - as when they are this small the colour and alt mode are an important part of that. Stormcloud is already a bit wrong looking by not being a Eurofighter. The worst aspect of these to me is that there is only half a team - I think if Hasbro show some creativity they could engineer 2 more characters for each team and make them able to combine it would be simple to make a 4 part sword - Tailwind would make a decent sword hilt for example. and if they put actual swing wings on the F-14 it could integrate into the sword better too. As for the Cars - you could have a howitzer platform and make them a static gun position. perhaps swapping out the one on the tip to give different weapon effects. Or even simply duplicating the effect of making a complementary combination - like two jet become a shield. You should be able to use these like Mini-cons too they have a post that is compatible and they have what is an approximation of an individual weapon mode - so it's pretty easy to simply plug them on to a bigger robot like a minicon. Oh and though it's hard to get at Big Shot's head does rotate to hide it.

A mixed bag, huh? Kind of wish, if they couldn't do the four figure sets at a price point they desired, they split them into *two groups of two.* Such as a "Battle Patrol α" and "Battle Patrol ß" or - if they haven't run out yet - a new name for the second group. That last bit they could still do, giving us a Sidetrack and Sunrunner team later... but the *second* idea was to use all four to make the combined modes. I suppose they could try for complimentary options but... ...can't save the Race Car Patrol that way or give us a better "sword" out of the Air Strike Patrol. I am curious, though: for as poorly as the Race Car Patrol look together, can they just be wielded separately like a pair of matching blasters? That or for figures with the right style of back, use them as Jet Packs...

It erks me when people call any small bot a minicon, Minicons, Micromasters, Battlemasters, Targetmasters are all easily identified, Minicons have the minicon insignia or are called minicons officially, the others are Autobots and cons etc, all small bots are not minicons, its not a generic term meaning any small bot
