Are the Padres on the verge of being sold?

This may be a blessing in disguise. As a Dodgers fan who lived through the McCourt era it was tough to see my team’s ownership to through litigation leaving fans uncertain about the teams future but fortunately they were sold to an ownership group that was willing to spend and turn the franchise around. Hopefully this gets resolved fast and who know maybe the Padres get sold to someone that’s is willing to put the Organization and Fans before profit.

You don't have to worry about it because they aren't going to spend the money on any mid-range free agents anyway . If they sign a free agent he won't make more than 2 million a season on a one-year contract.

I don't believe the Padres are on the VERGE of being sold, but I do think the end result will be the sale of the Padres. It won't happen overnight but if this lawsuit sticks and takes a while, both parties I think are going to be eliminated and the Padres will be up for sale. Seldom does an owner that is going to sell his ball club ever put money into the organization. They usually don't sign any mid-range to large contracts. They usually try to keep it tight and make it look good to purchase and THEN the new owner can add. That doesn't bode well for the near future of this ball club.

I see some Dodger fans laughing at this, I'm not. I've seen this situation play out with some of my favorite teams like the Lakers and Dodgers obviously with the McCourts crap. It's definitely not something you want to see since it could affect the team's plans to add talent. What a mess this has become. But one thing for sure I hope though is that the Padres DO NOT move out from San Diego. The city doesn't need to lose another pro sports franchise.

I honestly seeing it as control to sell. She doesn't have the financial backing in the Seidler Equity group to hold down the team. Team revenue doesn't look like much when they took out a 50mil role. It's all going to come out in legal documentation.

With Peter Siedler, finally a Padres owner that wanted to spend to win. Prior to the suit, there was talk of lowering the payroll to around 170 million. With the suit, are the Padres going to try to trade some of the high dollar players for minor leaguers? Or do they sell the team?

I doubt it. SD too important to MLB. It's a smaller market than LA but it is still significantly rich. The Dodgers/Padres divisional series had amazing Rating$.

San Diego is an anomaly, the 8th largest city in America, yet a small media market. It deserves ⚾️. Heck Petco Park is only 20-21 years old. San Diego needs the Padres.

@@Juice_2288you’re right about the Money in the Padres vs Dodgers rivalry. The Padres use a Tier 1 to Tier 10 system for tickets. Those seats are always Tier 1, the most expensive, along with the Giants and Opening Day. Those are the games fans want!

Honestly, if I were the Padres... I'd trade EVERYONE and build around Jackson Merrill! The character of team is highly questionable, and I think Machado and Tatis are not people I want my younger player to learn from! Tony Gwynn was such a class act... the Padres should try and build around his legacy! San Diego is NOT a big market team... they need to accept that and build long term with younger more disciplined players! They are NOT going to outbid the Dodgers, but that's ok. They don't need to if they invest in the right philosophies and strategies during the rebuild. The window is small to get unload Machado's contract and Tatis has tons of value! Time for the Padres to refocus and rebuild the right way!

She did this intentionally to make sure the Padres don’t get Roki. The timing is not a coincidence, just a few days before he is set to make his decision. She needs the fans angry at the brothers, but if the brothers pull off getting Roki they will get credit for it and the team will likely continue winning for a few more years. Which would be bad for her dream of controlling the padres. She needs them angry which is why she use the word relocation even though we all know that’s not possible with the current lease
