Coach Pop is a smart man, i think they are slowly developing him and keeping him out of the paint until he gets physically stronger
@cwehdenАй бұрын
To create the perfect player you have to allow him to develop, that might look ugly at times.. If he can chuck up a ton of threes for a season or two he will become utterly fearless of the shot for the rest of his career in a way that can only be learnt through experience and doing. The more he misses the more he should lean into taking more threes this is the only way to develop resilience and a strong mental game over the long run.
@joshuafruth6420Ай бұрын
KD did something similar, i believe his fg percentage wasn't so great but they gave him the greenlight to just develop early on

Seems like a another development/tank year from the Spurs. Last year they had Sochan at point guard to increase his playmaking and handling, this year they have Wemby on the perimeter to increase his shooting and movement.

@Shortballa11Ай бұрын
You rlly have to question whether the Spurs are tanking one last year. Because we all know Wemby could average an efficient 25, 12, 4, and 4 in his sleep if he decided to play in the post.
@blablablaa14Ай бұрын
The answer is yes, they would prefer to finish another year lower than people expect to add more talent. Did you see the draft class this year? Its incredible, they should want a top 5 pick even if people make up that Vic is unhappy with losing
@kittycat2983Ай бұрын
He still needs to add some more weight to his frame. Wemby gets tossed around by some forwards and definitely against other centers. Once he adds another 20-25 on, he'll be a real menace.
@MaximusR93Ай бұрын
Two top ten picks are better than one, especially in this draft. Atl should be a lottery team and if the spurs are too, that should really boost their talent level
@kittycat2983Ай бұрын
@@MaximusR93 Atlanta won't be a lottery team, they have nothing to gain in regards to tanking so they'll fight every night. Will probably end up 7-8 seed.
@Earl_E_BurdАй бұрын
Had the same thought. Last year they insidiously tanked early in the season to avoid detection (unlike the Mavs prior, who did less but were too obvious) with the whole Point Sochan thing that was obvious to those paying attention. Seems like a similar strategy this year but more justifiable - let Wemby get it out of his system and prove it for himself that he's not James Harden.
@blablablaa14Ай бұрын
I would like people to stop thinking about Victor as a MVP candidate right now and start thinking about him as a 20 year old learning what he can and cant do and wanting to develop the stuff he isn't good at. Wemby isn't trying to be a traditional player that does 3-4 things amazing on the court, he wants to do everything amazing. Minimizing Wemby to not be a floor spacer because he hasn't shot the ball well so far (typical for people who had long summers, look at Luka's stats) is losing on the development of Wemby as a complete player. Trae young isn't shooting well from three, he doesn't stop shooting it either. The fact that Wemby is tall, doesn't mean he can't develop a three point shot, his playmaking abilities, his screening abilities and more. Its a matter of time till he shoots 40% from three and then how do you guard him then? Because if he's just a 7'5 screen and roller, he is not going to be the GOAT no matter what he does. Wemby will shoot and shoot and shoot his entire career, let Wemby be Wemby

All I see is a young player building bad habits. The greatest physical freak players like Shaq and Lebron didn’t heavily focus what they were bad at, they maximized their physical advantage by doing what they were already great at. The defense wins literally every time Wemby jacks up a 3.
@Alamoe1Ай бұрын
@kevinc8955 well, good thing you're not a talent evaluator, because that comment is complete nonsense. 😂
@kevinc8955Ай бұрын
@@Alamoe1Well…they’re not winning anything, and that’s indicative. Lebron took Cleveland from 17 games without him to 35 games to 42 his second year. Shaqs Magic went from 21 to 41 games to 50 games by Shaqs year 2. What will the Spurs win Wemby’s second year? 25 games? You don’t think any of this matters? What you’re suggesting is they are tanking for better picks and we’ve seen this. It’s called “the process” and it doesn’t work. It just teaches your guys how to lose.
@blablablaa14Ай бұрын
@@kevinc8955 The only thing the Lebron example proves is that you're wrong. Lebron shot a bunch of threes young and missed them so he can get to where he is a decent shooter (which is what happened). Also Lebron played in the awful East. This spurs team finishes top 4 in the East, but the West is more difficult. They will win 35 games minimum this year and 13 more wins in year 2 is significant

Yes. They should be telling this kid to stop shooting 3s. He's horrible at it. Going 1-5, 1-8 1-6 game after game is doing what? He should be shooting over people one on the blocks not jacking up misses from 3. I use it every time. Why defend yourself shooting a 3 you are going to miss. Make them defense you and your size.

What a joke. They didn't even include Zacch in their conversation who has been better than all of these guys, even if you take away his 33 point outing. His defense alone is worthy of a conversation even when his shot wasn't falling. I get it it's Atlanta.

Tim im disappointed in you. Clearly you don't watch the Pelicans if you can say they have been relatively healthy. Murray, CJ, Trey, Herb have either missed all the games so far or half (3 starters 1 huge rotation player). Zion has also missed 3 games and the season is 9 games in. Your analysis is usually spot on, but you have to at least watch a team before you comment.

Have you heard how many times Victor has said "I don't want to be limited". With Wemby, much like other top talents, you don't tell them what they can and cant do, they have to decide that on their own.
