Are the Texans any good along the offensive line? Cody Stoots says yes. He explains where the team is at every position on the offensive line and why Pro Football Focus doesn't make any sense ranking the Texans so poorly. Plus, Laremy Tunsil is the 11th best tackle? Preposterous. Let's talk Texans.

The job Strausser did last year was phenomenal. We gave up 0 sacks to a healthy TJ Watt and co. with backups to backups starting.

The biggest stat for Shaq Mason last year was that he started all 17+ games. He was the one piece of the Oline the coaches didn't have to worry about.

O-line is like the D-backs, gotta play as a group and stay healthy. THEN, you start recognizing the stand out players. Very few All Pro's doing it by themselves.

I’m drinking here on the 4th, so I’ll keep it brief.. I like the depth, and they’re really good at pass blocking.. Some good luck on the injury front can build some real continuity, which is always a big plus.. Now back to the disastros…

With Kenyon coming back and Tytus playing at his natural position. That should help shape things up, barring any setbacks.

Because this team only got better, the offensive line statistically was most injured ever recorded yet played way better than expected, this OLine should rank in the top half for sure, possibility top 10 or 5 if Tunsil can stop false starting or any flag 💯🤦‍♂️🤘🏾🤘🏾🍻 #GoTexans #SWARM #InStroudITrust #Cookserio #DM59

Definitely thin Tunsil is underrated in those lists, but that a good thing. He need to quit false starting and learn how to run block or at least pretend that he knows how. As it is now, he is merely being paid to pass block, because I can't remember him doing anything else. I like him, am glad we have him, but if you demand higher pay, make it more appropriate.

It is high time Tunsil stops living off his rep and starts earning his check. If he wants to be an All Pro so badly, tell him to leave his damn roller skates at home and start moving some asses out of the way when run blocking. Mason is steady. Last time we saw Tytus at RT, people forget he played a majority of the season and only gave up 2 sacks, that said, he needs to stay healthy or the door may shut on him and open for fisher. Our center has to make all the line calls, Patterson was a far better pass protector and a better fit at Center. Scruggs struggled at LG, people forget he was a rookie. By the end of the year he was by far the best run blocker on the team. Both Kendrick and Kenyon Green showed up in better shape for OTA’s, let the both of them compete with Scruggs and put the best starting 5 out there. Outside of Heck we have no proven depth. Depth is a major concern not just on the O-line, but LB, DT, S, CB, HB, and WR. We have talented starters, but very few battle tested backups.

WR? Cmon man, you've got Noah Brown and Metchie behind Nico, Tanks and Diggs, not to mention Hutchinson, and Woods. Metchie shaking Sting in mini-camp, at least to me, was no small thing. With all the adversity the young man has faced, it looks like he's finally reached the light at the end of the tunnel. My guess is that he's going to end up living up to the spot he was drafted. I agree with a lot of what you're saying here. I don't get how WRs got included in the mix though.

@@ericparker163 Because other than Diggs, the Janke twins, and and Ben from the Rams whose last name I am not sure how to spell 🤣 this group we largely ran back. Don’t get me wrong here, I absolutely hope Metchie develops and proves himself. If Brown can stay healthy he is a decent 4 or 5. I have zero expectations for Woods and scratch my head as to why he is still on this roster, other than being a veteran mentor. Hutchinson needs more reps to develop and those look to be hard to come by. The reason I would say Wr depth beyond the top 3 is this, Nico has an injury history, Tank is coming of an injury, Diggs is 31. We are competing for a Super Bowl, not just the AFC South. All the depth mentioned was a considerable liability last season either due to lack of production or injury. Training camp is great for reps and mental acclimations, but the depth has to prove itself on the field and as Demeco says “Earn” those spots and trust. The best free agent fits currently are Russell Gage who has had some flashes, Richie Grant who had decent production despite being on the Giants, and you could say Hunter Renfrow if you count has 1 ultra productive season and a credit the rest to a bad Raiders brain trust. Not a very inspiring list. Julio Jones and Michael Thomas are just names at this point. So maybe this is why Woods is still here. I just want an insurance policy in case of an injury with a more proven producer, because we lost in the divisional round in large part due to not having enough depth here.

In 2022 the Oline was ranked 29th. 2023 they improved to 17th with substantially the same players. The difference was Stroud getting the ball out of his hands. This year we are bringing back the same players and will probably be middle of the pack again.

Cody I can see how they may not think very highly about the Texans O line. Tunsil is not a motivated run blocker and quite frankly isn’t very good at it. The last time anyone saw Kenyan Green ply he was horrible, Titus Howard still isn’t proven, and you sports guys seem to think the Texans won’t start the best center on the team, Jarrett Patterson, and will instead start Juice Scruggs. The last time we saw Juice Scruggs at left guard he was getting beat like a red headed step child. He looked over matched and over powered. You yourself, in this video, said Scruggs will provide an average play at center this year. Cody, average isn’t good enough. All that said I think or I hope Ryan’s has enough sense to play Patterson at center, Green comes in and is what Casario thought he will be, and Tunsil gets motivated the Texans can be in the top 18 O line. Just my opinion.
