I use to ride these back in the 70's until the early 80's in and around taunton/minehead, on the old roman road on the quantocks hills, all stop now.

I think Somerset Council took the same approach as North Somerset and simply took the opportunity to stop vehicle use. Good to hear from you again Graham.

My mate had a MT5, he got the exhaust derestricted and it was crazy fast for a 50cc. I was an avid off-roader in the 90’s, had a brilliant time with my local TRF group. The whole access thing was a very hot potato back then. I’m very impressed you took the Crosstourer off road 😎

I rode that moped to my first job 6 days a week, 35 miles away!!! Couldn't wait to get a proper motorcycle. In fact, I didn't and bought my next bike, a DT175MX, when I still had the moped. Having taken the CT off road a few times it's becoming less daunting. Although we got ourselves into a bit of a predicament recently and nearly got stranded in a combe we couldn't get out of. I've made a video of the experience that I might post?

I just discovered some of your older videos driving the Defender around Keynsham. Thankfully, NE Somerset (or whatever they called themselves back then) made them BOATS - which is quite apt because that's exactly what you need for some of those lanes!!!

We must be about the same vintage, i remember back when i had a XL250s and could and did go nearly anywhere, with bother at all. Just a great time to ride bikes off road

Those definitely were the days my friend! I have an XL500S still! Absolutely love it but must get off this computer and on it more often than I do.

@@greatbritishbikingadventures You lucky man, there are a few bikes I wish I still had, the XL is one and a XBR 500 is the other
