Slim, I appreciate your perspective, but I have some concerns regarding allowing hawking in that area. It could potentially lead to increased traffic issues and even safety risks for individuals. I propose that we consider implementing a law that addresses both the sellers and buyers in that yard. By introducing fines for hawkers and possibly requiring community service for buyers, we may discourage this practice and ultimately restore order to the area. Additionally, the government might find it beneficial to utilize that space as a parking lot, which could generate revenue.

I agree with Slim, they can create stalls for a market ie night market and they can sell their wares there great source of revenue for the metro.they can also have toilet facilities for them as well

Slim, I understand your argument but I do not agree with you. A habit can be created by just repeating an action more than once. And if you are consistent with it, then it becomes a habit. Ain’t we tired as a people of all the indiscipline we see around as? These hawkers create traffic jams. And that is one of the main reasons why the government did this construction. Why can’t we enforce laws to deter them from hawking there in order to prevent traffic jams created by hawking? America is America not because of the people but law enforcement. If the laws are not enforced, trust me, all of them will do whatever they want. Discipline must be inculcated or drummed into people. This can only be done by stringent enforcement of the laws. If you hawk there once, you get fined say GHS50 when caught. You hawk there 3 or 4 times, you get fined for all the times you are caught, is that not money leaving your pocket? The same money you are hawking for is being taken away from you because you have decided to be indisciplined. Won’t you change your route and find a new place where you will not be fined for hawking? A new place like a designated market for selling. I repeat, America is America not just because of the people, but the strict enforcement of its laws by the law enforcement agencies. We must not condone indiscipline and impunity in the name of nation building. Ntesaa, y3 w) kwan twa paaa….. #Streetiswatching

I stand to corrected but hawkers have never created traffic , they feed on traffic created by either bad roads or faulty traffic lights 🚦. Let’s change how we look at the problem and try solving it from that side and let’s see if it will work . Cos at it stands now they ain’t leaving ooo , they will come back soon , next month we go see them. And I’m not condoning but let’s face reality , they are a part of our eco system

The footbridge analogy is on design failing to move with citizens and it’s a part of my argument too , because hawking is not new to Ghanaians , why can’t they be captured and monitored ? Is that too hard to do ? We are saying we will regularize illegal mining why can’t we regularize hawking too ?
@BigApplerealest5 күн бұрын
@ In my opinion I think asking us to compromise on wrong doing is fair to the state and those trying to help make it better . Hawking is allowed but we can’t allow it everywhere just because we want to help citizens. Can we also hawk at the airport?
