Are there walkable suburbs around Austin?

I like the Georgetown and hill country galleria options too. My choice is central Austin but 😂Hyde park by 43rd street near Quacks bakery. That area is so cute with the coffee shop, grocery store and restaurants. You are either going to pay 700k for a small house or 2mill for a gut remodeled home. 😅

how about fully walkable areas for renters? what are the rents like for a big 1 bedroom apartment? how much is the electric bill if you have to run A/C 24/7? Do most apartments cover utilities? My daughter is finishing her nursing degree and we are trying to figure out where to go (Houston vs. Austin). I don't drive, so i need a walkable area. We wouldn't mind being in the center of everything, but not in a dangerous area. Everyone says Houston is a better option, but i have been watching vides and it appears the drivers are really bad. In terms of Georgetown, are there rents? What is the difference in rentals between downtown Austin vs. Georgetown?

You just need to tell those people their standards don't exist in or around Austin. I'm from the Twin Cities and I didn't realize whole cities could be built like suburbs. Austin is very stretched out, unless you're central or downtown sadly. The north end is about as spread out as the north suburbs. Most roads look like highways. It's dangerous, expensive and takes a long time to drive. I actually find I like biking substantially more, the only downside is the long distance and the intense labor for long trips, though regular exercise is usually a plus compared to sedentary lifestyles in cars too much. Biking is so much more relaxed than driving aimlessly in circles just to cope with the warzone of roads. Anybody moving near Austin should be prepared to deal with the infrastructure disaster. It's making people poor and destitute in the midst of a car loan bubble. We desperately need to build actual walking, human-scaled infrastructure. Car consumed infrastructure/suburbanism also bankrupts entire cities because it's so materialistic to maintain. Anybody that can live in the city at all should do that and avoid cars at all costs. Once you're within a human-scaled living area, there's no point to having the burden of a car. Lots of places will trap cars that pedestrians and bicyclists can go around or avoid far easier.

If you move to Austin you have to have a car! And DON’T send people to Georgetown and ruin it for us please! Stay in Austin Geezz… And he’s wrong folks! The area around the downtown is very expensive, overall you need a car to get around - no buses, like Austin- and infrastructure is worst. And no entertainment! Oh! And this is a VERY conservative town so if your a rambling liberal- ya won’t like it here.
