Them looking like earphones would be a complete dealbreaker for me. Most people will assume that's what they are, and wearing earphones in public is pretty much the universal sign of "I can't hear you and don't talk to me". Depending on where you wear them it can be a particularly rude way to communicate that as well. Maybe it's because I'm a hearing aid user in my early 30s but I want them to be as discreet as possible as well. Great review, surprised they performed well to be honest.

I'm in my late 50's and I want hearing aids to be as discrete as possible too! Thanks for kind comment about the review. Yeah, I was surprised at how powerful the amplifiers are in these things, and how favourably they performed alongside the Phonaks.

Did they work well down the boozer?

You're right, I didn't mention that. Doh. Like using them to listen to music or watch TV the amplification was strong. But I wouldn't say they helped pick out voices any more than normal hearing aids, so the answer is no, not well enough to put up with the social stigma of looking like an extra off Star Trek.

@@arlo.guthrie Thanks. Bit of a shame. That's what I struggle with most of all!

@@Phil_AKA_ThundyUK I know how you feel. There’s some new hearing aid technology just out which I hear (no pun) is life-changing. I hope to know more in a couple of weeks.
