Since you've asked, unequivocally...YES! Since 2011 I have consistently been designing pedalboards that could cover, what I consider, the 'core amp tones'...those being Fender, Vox and Marshall. I've owned/tried all the amp modelers and their particular versions that were and are currently on the market and 80 percent of the tube-based preamp pedals as well. Some units were more extensive than others but it was usually always the same...just a different flavor, took time to dial-in your tone but...never seemed to be exactly what I'd hoped it would be tone-wise and always left me feeling there was something better. I recently bought and use every Sunday at church the latest/greatest all-in-one device and thought...finally that's the one! However, I was then introduced to the UA Dream '65 and all I can say is...this is what I've wanted for years in all the other devices I purchased! Just pure TONE that accurately replicates the amp circuit it's designed after. I've since bought the Ruby '63 and it is just as good as the Dream '65. When you can just play through a device and not have to constantly feel the need to compare it to a real amp but instead can just enjoy the experience, nuance and feel of the real deal...that's where it's at - the UA amp pedals are currently the best modelling available right now;)

Much like early Marshall's, the way these were often run is "all knobs at ten" to get dirt out of them. Even the tone knob adds grit, which is consistent with pushing early tweeds into intensity.

Digital amps and pedals has come a long way and obviously has their place in specific situations (touring, rehearsal, late-night jamming etc.) They still doesn’t feel nor sounds as good as a regular tube amp though. You can do well with them over time, but if you later decide to go old-school and play an old amp, it won’t take you more than a couple of minutes to realize what you’ve been missing out on. Same with my ACS1. Although I pretty much only use the Fender, I always have access to the Marshall and the Vox at my fingertips. For the same price. @@rogerYT69 I definitely prefer the AC30 sounds in the Ruby - though I will say the Brilliant channel in the Ruby is better than the Normal channel (whereas I prefer the Normal channel on my real AC15). @@rogerYT69 So for context, before I bought the Helix I bought a Strymon Iridium but returned it -- because I hated how it took pedals. I got the Joyo American Sound at first and then the Tech21 Blonde which is the pedal that the Joyo AS replicates. Both are similar in sound to the Dream (i mean, they have that fenderish sound), but the Dream stands out -bIG stand out- in terms of harmonic richness and tube feel. Also you get that spring reverb and tremolo effect. The Dream really feels like a tube amp just there, which also makes it a better pedal platform if you have other pedals. According to your question, the central issue is whether or not the x10 price is justified based on how much you get out of the pedal. Do you play a lot? Do yo gig? Do you record? You can give it a try at a music store anyway and decide.
