I think the chorus is integrated exceptionally well. The verses flow so seamlessly into it. Sure, it's super melodic and catchy, but it blends with the song from the high-energy from Sam's belting notes.

I appreciate the fact that you're one of the more honest react channels. Most have basically just given up on actually giving their opinion because it's easier to grow an audience if you just like everything. I very much agree with what you said, for me, the architects "fall off" was never because of heaviness, it was authenticity, FTWTE was authentic and i liked it, the one after felt like a bad compromise for everyone, heavier, but even more artificial and boring. This is definitely getting back to their heavier side, but it's still missing originality. This song feels like what happens if you average all of the popular metalcore of the last 4 years, but without actually taking what made these individual songs good. It's not bad but it misses something, multiple bands could have written this exact song. The once so famous architects sound is just gone.

@@MDLuFFy19 i don't even really get what you're trying to say. I'm not acting like a pretentious cunt that doesn't like anything that doesn't sound like an exact copy of their earlier work. I'm just asking them to make something a bit more distinctive and not this generic. I don't hate this track, it's just not really doing anything for me as it sounds identical to whiplash and curse.

I agree, I also don’t really agree with his statement that they are forcing the heaviness. I don’t see why the song being really heavy with a clean chorus is an issue in this song, but not the countless other songs that he reacts to. I still enjoy his reactions but I just disagree on that point. I do agree on the production being way too clean as it can get a bit repetitive and lack some punch, but that doesn’t take away from the songwriting for me as I feel this song is one of their strongest in a while

My thoughts on Architects are basically that these new tracks are fun head bangers, but nothing they have put out recently makes me THINK. Its just loud and heavy and fun, but not, and I dont mean this in a bad way, meaningful. All Our Gods makes me sit and listen to the lyrics and the message they were trying to send. These new tracks dont. With that said, this is the best song they have put out in years.

And that impact they drop by making you think is what made their older stuff so much better. Not necessarily because it was "heavy." Seeing Red was forced heaviness, but I suppose that was the entire point of the song being a bit of banter. This song, while still a far cry from their works of 2009-2017, is an enjoyable listening experience and I find this and the previous singles waaaay better than the last album. I also loved FTTWTE, but this is also shaping up to be a great album IMO. It is very polished and produced, taking away the raw edge of All our gods etc. But that's just modern metal nowadays. Definitely my favourite of the singles so far, Curse being second.

The reaction from most fans to this song really does seem to be: heavy = good and it really doesn't. @@RavetsUI agree. I still enjoy these new songs but I don't jam them constantly like I do with their older works. I feel like some of their original sound was lost in this new phase. I wish more bands did what Red has done with their sound. They kept their "core" sound while trying some different things in their albums. If people like it or not is subjective, but one can't say that they lost a part of their identity.

I think it’s the mix. It feels overly polished as though everything’s been rounded off. Even compared to softer songs from AOGHAU, this still feels softer. The older songs feel raw, the guitars have sharpness to them like they could cut you. These overly polished songs are like a butter knife in comparison. The other thing is the lyrics, I find them less memorable. I probably won’t remember this song like I don’t remember any from the last album. BUT this is the best song they've released in recent years. Will aways be a fan!

But my problem with this and current metalcore is that it all sounds the same to me too much production, quantized instruments that sound like robots playing, unnatural vocal production. Maybe it's my taste in general that is changing like I've been more drawn to post hardcore, 2000's revivalcore and alternative metal lately.

They're in a weird spot because every other band has since taken their old style and iterated on it. If they tried to do the same they would just be accused of copying Currents or IA. They're also just in better places mentally so the doom and gloom of All Our Gods just isn't as prevalent with them. Their focus is clearly now on their live shows, where this will absolutely pop off. That chorus is fantastic. I really like this song, but I do wish FTTWTE became their new blueprint. It was fresh, interesting, impactful and a chart-topper. They're making fun music and having fun doing it, love that for them. That's about it.

I don't know if it's the more modern sound and mix, but they just are not the same as something like Holy Hell, or even FTTWTE. My issue I realised with this track, is how “emotionless” or “devoid of character” the riffs have. Listened to it twice, put on Gone With The Wind and Hereafter, and both have more character in their riffs within the first minute. I listen to Architects for fun technical riffs, not “generic metalcore detuned chugs”. And yeah, I agree, the heavy feels forced, they just want to write clean arena singy choruses, the heavy feels forced because there’s no attempt to create a good transition between them.

@@october-xxv bruv, you're such a clown, you can find some videos for previous album and singles for this one that were released before the "controversy" happened and hear the same thing: he didn't really enjoy it and was being nice about it then and now. he could've completely ignored those new releases from architects if it was because of controversy, that happened before.

I agree with everything. I keep saying I dont necessarily want *heavy* Architects, I just dont want these kind of cheesey, jarring and out of place choruses that ruin whatever they have going. Seeing Red for example does this "We're heavy because you keep whinning to us to be heavy!" And it just comes across as cringe, Curse has a cool riff that gets ruined immediately by the chorus. The next two songs are definitely more fun, but have the same problem.

I think one of my biggest problems with Architects at the moment is that they're lacking a truly great riff writer in the vein of Tom and Josh. So these new songs are super heavy and aggressive but they're lacking memorable riffs to make that heaviness truly meaningful and memorable. I actually wonder whether Adam has started writing the riffs or if they are written by Dan (or maybe even Jordan Fish) with virtual guitars
@Rage-op7xz
@Rage-op7xz 8 сағат бұрын
I don't think it's Jordan, the new Poppy record has way more interesting guitars and that's all done by Jordan (with help from Stevis of house of protection). I think it's probably Dan with some very minimal input from Adam and maybe a few finishing touches from Jordan. I actually think the guitars would've been more interesting if Jordan could just do whatever he wanted.

They absolutely are forcing it, not a big fan of any of their new tracks. It's also so painfully obvious that some of the best aspects are the Jordan fish influence. While I do think this is better than their last album, that's not saying a whole lot.

I like it more on repeated listens, but my biggest gripe is that it doesn’t feel like it has a rhythm or groove to it. It’s so all over the place with its beat and riffs that it’s distracting, so I also feel like they’re doing too much to make it heavy that I wish moments would breathe a little bit. This album has me tugging my collar a bit.

hmm this is probably my favorite single out of the 4 but idk if ill check out the full album cus it all kinda blends in the same, and i've kinda grown tired of this type of metalcore sound if im gonna be honest.(not bad, just not my thing i suppose). i did like the solo the most tbh. i wont complain much, architects honestly gave me my favorite albums to listen to in highschool and i love every record they've put out except the last one(once again, not bad just not my thing lol). on a side note for any guitarists: are they playing in regular drop g# tuning or their normal g# tuning? i noticed in the music video it looks like he's playing in drop g# but i honestly can't tell lol.

I really don't know how to feel about this one. I LOVE Architects. LF//LT is tattooed on my body. I enjoyed FTWWTE after a long period of growing pains with it. I enjoyed a few tracks off Classic Symptoms. I actually liked Whiplash quite a bit too. I just haven't clicked with this one yet. Its hard for me to hear Architects "going back to being heavy" because it isn't their sound when they do. This is 100% a heavy song but it does not sound like a Architects song whatsoever. Since FTWWTE it feels like they are losing their unique sound and doing what BMTH did 10 years ago. I love BMTH also but when I put on an Architects track I wanna hear an Architects song, not Architects performing a BMTH song. I love the guys. I go into every project with so much excitement to see what they do next and I wish them the best. I just wish they would evolve their unique sound to create something a bit more *them* instead of trying to sound more like everyone else.

It’s funny reading all the discourse around Architects. It reminds me a lot of In Flames. I enjoy them but they’ve never been a band that I really followed or got invested in so I don’t care one way or another how people feel about the Architects, but I don’t think the band will ever be ‘good enough’ for a lot of people out there.

as a solo listener, i think the issue is not the song itself but the CRAZY amount of similar sounds we've listened in the past years, we're tired of the same format of heavy-chorus-heavy-chorus, i can definitely appreciate jordan fish's work here and on poppy's album, but this formula is SO tired, at least that's what i feel.

I wonder if Architects as a band were planning on going in a 'less guitar-y' approach after Holy Hell, or did Tom's death accelerate that? Blackhole is heavy for sure but guitars aren't main focus anymore (lol Blackhole as a guitar solo as I type this).

They used to be metalcore at heart. Now they are buttrock at heart. They can wrap it with as many double kicks, low gutturals, breakdowns as they want like they do in this song. But it's still just metalcore-coated buttrock. Not much different than what ADTR was doing with their track Feedback.

Post Holy Hell Architects evaluation has been quite the dilemma imo. They tried to "evolve" from their trademark sound which didn't exactly land well with many. Then they released a big ironic "metalcore by numbers" track with Seeing Red as a fuck you to the haters, which I frankly hated. It came off as undermining their own style while clowning on you for liking it. And now they kinda went back to that modern metalcore where I'm not sure if its genuine or not? They're also missing the open space and emotional depth of their LFLT/AOGHAU/Holy Hell era but then again - can't really hold it against them given the history behind those albums. I do enjoy their latest singles and look forward to their new album, which might ultimately be all that matters.

I don't dislike these new tracks by any means and I think if they were written by a different Metalcore band I'd be quite happy to bop my head along to them and not think about it. However, for Architects, I just feel that these new songs are too safe and too predictable, compared to the stuff they were writing a few albums back (pre-2021). I would never expect them to write the same album over and over again and I want them to write the music they want to write but I just feel that as a band, they're capable of so much more than this.
