He sampled the "Drop" from the Beastie Boys song, "The New Style". If you pay close attention, 2 of the Beastie Boys make cameos. The guy on the bike is Mike D and Ad-Rock pops in, wearing sunglasses and a blue shirt, and says "Drop" a few times in the hook.

@nathanneelyoutlawdiditprod2891Ай бұрын
@wiebrenwilbers2178 They sampled the "Drop" from themselves on "Intergalactic" which came out in '98. "The New Style" was on their "License To Ill" album from '86. You made me notice something though. This video resembles the "Intergalactic" video a lot in how it was shot and its style. Wouldn't be surprised if this where they got the idea and somebody said let's just do it backwards.

Yes...they...are...lol. The behind the scenes is crazy. They had a linguist create their 'backwards language' and they had to learn it for the video! Bizzare Ride is a worthy album reaction. Also, Digital Underground's Sex Packets for west vibe.
@chrisv966-sp7dj11 ай бұрын
The video was filmed in reverse AND the group members had to learn the song in reverse, so when it was played, it looked like they were saying it normally. Spike Jonze is the director, and was the director for BIG's "Sky's The Limit" video also. Check that one out too when you have a chance.

You need to put the Pharcyde in your rotation of albums to review if you haven't already, they are a vibe, before the vibe was a thing...LOL! I would start with "Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde" which was their intro to everyone outside of the West! (4 Better Or 4 Worse, is one of the craziest hip-hop songs ever made). Pharcyde and Souls of Mischief, and the Hieroglyphics Crew ushered in a different West Coast sound that was dope!

Video directed by Spike Jonze who has directed a few big films like H.E.R. and Being John Malkovich. He not only shot them moving backwards. They had to learn their lyrics backwards so their mouths would match. So they're reading this made up language off big cards that a whole crew of assistants had to come up with for them to learn weeks before shooting this video.

Yesss! But I don't think the movie is abbreviated like H.E.R. haha, that's the R&B singer. The movie is just Her. 😆 One of my all time favorites tbh, dude is a genius. Hate that he hasn't made a new one since (outside the Jackass ones).

If your only doing a song you have to do “ she said”preferably the original album version it’s one of my all time favorite hip hop tracks and fat lips Verse is one of my all time favs by him a lot of folks prefer the j dilla remix which is a vibe but I loved the original since coping lab cabin California cd (which is where running and drop are both from as well) are the first day it dropped. Or you could do both and choose your favorite that being said this album as well as their debut album Bizzare Ride 2 the Pharcyde are both classics if you get a chance do the whole albums and the dopest thing about them is that both albums are classics in completely different ways with different vibes totally original and unique they were. Two more fun facts then I’ll quit bugging ya lol one is these talented cats got started before rapping as backup dancers on in living color the tv show and secondly Fatlip also has pretty strong solo album that could be checked out if you enjoy these two lps or worse case scenario definitely check for the writers block and what’s up fatlip off those albums. Basically these brothers are Ill and I really think you’d enjoy the creativity of the full length lps when you get a chance just judging how you’ve enjoyed the singles so far
