Although things were really bad at the late stages of the USSR I think people cared less about money but more about friendship, emotions, arts, sports, chess etc. The capitalism is to blame for turning people into monsters who only care about material things and snobism.

As a Scandinavian that has also lived in Russia, I would say your assessment of Russia is very unfair. As long as you don't trash Russian political leadership, especially in a wartime, with nothing of substance, you can say de facto whatever. Try that in the West. You will lose your job, you will be debanked, you will lose all your friends etc. Raising a family in Russia in contrast to the West, - there is no comparison. In Russia everyone can buy a house and have a garden with good high quality food. Try that in Germany, Switzerland etc.
@olepedersen161710 ай бұрын
A house with a garden in a village, of course, not Moscow. I am a long-time subscriber, but you clearly have forgotten how bad it is in the West, and it is only getting worse. What Russia has managed, through wartimes and some of the harshest economic sanctions ever seen, is remarkable.
@YegorsTV10 ай бұрын
thanks for being a subscriber. Russia has plus and minuses like any other country. Western wages are much higher though. $150 a month Russian pensions and $300 a month Russian wages is what people make outside of the big cities
@olepedersen161710 ай бұрын
@@YegorsTV You are missing purchasing power parity (PPP), that the West's economic model is unsustainable with a debt level that will lead to an economic crash. Also, how Russia has raised herself up after the 90s, where Russia trusted the West and got exploited, is impressive. Compare that to the West where we are losing both productivity and purchasing power every single year. Russia is a phoniex from the ashes after evil and dysfunctional USSR, that you have on your woolen cap, total exploitation by the West in the 90s, and now absurd sanctions that one cannot defend morally.

Russia is now at war with Ukraine. It is not surprising that not everything can be said about politics or the army. The same thing happened in the USA and even worse. Example. Internment of Japanese in the United States during World War II. President Franklin Roosevelt authorized internment by signing Emergency Decree No. 9066 on February 19, 1942, which authorized the military authorities to identify "eviction zones" and move any persons from them. As a result, all Japanese citizens were forcibly evicted from the Pacific coast, including California and most of Oregon and Washington, to internment camps. The forced displacement of about 120,000 Japanese (of whom 62% had American citizenship) from the west coast of the United States of America during World War II to concentration camps, officially called "military displacement centers." In many publications, these camps are called concentration camps.

no, same thing did not happen in USA.I was there during Iraq and Afghanistan wars, people were free to criticize it. There were protests, etc. People were and still are free to discuss and have any opinion on it. WWII is not a good example, that was too long ago.
@BastioncenterRu10 ай бұрын
@@YegorsTV This is because neither the war in Afghanistan nor the war in Iraq was supported by the American people. Everyone was against it. Therefore, the authorities did not resist. In Russia, Russians support the war against the Nazi regime of Ukraine.
@YegorsTV10 ай бұрын
that makes zero sense. Firstly, some people supported in in US. Some opposed. It was divided. Just like with Vietnam. Secondly, if everyone supports it in Russia, why persecute those who say anything against it? In fact, that proves that they are very scared of dissent

I disagree with you. Life and freedom of speech is much worse in the west where I live. I however have family in Russia and know that Russia is moving in the right direction whilst in the west it is all lies and the future in the west is very worrying, 1984 on steroids. I see a bright future in Russia who has become independent from all the scum in the west...also $700 in Russia is more like $2000 in the west as the ruble has lost a lot since 2022 and given that most Russians buy Russian products, the RUB 70000 they now get means that they gain 2x more than the RUB 40000 they used to get. So Russians are way better off and the west, Europe especially who are being sacrificed on the altar by the US are going down the drains!!!
