Just got a truck bed trailer. It's a utility box bed on a 3/4 ton truck rear frame. Has a nice basket welded in front of the bed and a platform on the tongue. I'm gonna throw all my mechanics tools and construction tools inside. Has a 4 foot wide bed too. It was easy to talk my wife into buying it off Facebook marketplace because right now all my tools are on the front porch and have been for four years, that kinda motivates a person 😅.

I was really surprised to see the price of the floor metal as well! My cousin and I bought 2 truck bed trailers this year and both were in really good shape for the money! Back when I was still adventurous I had a Toyota truck bed trailer given to me. I used it for a few years to haul water while I was living in the boondocks and before I could afford to have a well drilled. Worked well. Anyhoo, I'm wondering how a person would know the carrying capacity of a used truck bed trailer bought used. The one in your video, if I had to guess, I'd say it was at least a 3/4 ton. Even if it is, how would you know. Also, if the truck was a 3/4 ton, would that specifically mean the trailer axle could carry 1750 lbs, or was 3/4 ton for the whole truck, not necessarily just the rear springs? Just wondering. Maybe a rear axle and spring could be a good start for something much bigger.
@C10TruckNerd2 жыл бұрын
That’s a great question! I try and see if their are any indications of what it is by stickers or badging on the bed, frame style, number of lug nuts and spring type. Mine was a mosh posh of stuff. Frame was off an industrial trailer, Ford 9” rear end with a 68-72 Chevy bed. 3/4 tons usually have a taller or thicker frame but it can be hard to tell without a comparison. On my old GMs, I would look for 8 lugs and add helper or overload springs if I wanted a heavy hauler. I don’t worry too much until I hit the bump stops. I’m sure I have overloaded them a time or twelve! I hope my rambling made some sense! Thanks for sharing and for watching!

I actually collect them, i have 43 pickup box trailers. I wish we could come up with a cool name for them instead of "Pickup Box Trailer." I have old ones, new ones, small ones, and large ones. Some of mine are flatbed trailers. I am like you and over due everything, I have a problem, i have to make sure the tires are all good, the origional lights all work, i replace the jacks with the side crank ones with no wheels, i find and mount spare tires to them, they all besides the flatbed ones have working tailgates. Some have farmer hitches, some have 1 7/8" ball recievers, some have 2" ball recievers. I hate 16.5" wheels, tires are hard to find, normally i can replace the wheels with a more standard size if i can find the same bolt pattern. I think they are great i have a suburban so if i wanted to haul sticks, dirt, gravel, trash, scrap iron, cinder blocks, golf cart, paddel boat, literally anything they come in handy. I pull them behind my Super H farmal tractor on "tractor rides," Iowa thing. A good amount of mine have toppers, or tonneou covers, great way to store things out of the "elements." Most are 80s chevy and fords but my newest one is a 2017 ford and my oldest is 40s international. I think a flatbed one of mine has a model A front axle under it, that one someone took the wires off the rims and welded flat steel to the two parts of the wheel in place of the wire wheel parts. I have chevys, fords, mazdas, internationals, one izusu, toyotas, and gmcs. I prefer 3/4 to 1 tons but i have them all. Not sure what to do with them all but i have them.

I will never understand why Americans act like their wives are their mothers. Most countries the wife has to ask permission from the man. Only in America does the man make the money AND has to act like a child to his wife. Grow a pair and make the decision thats best for the family, and if sometimes you make a decision thats only best for you, then she has to trust you as her man and her leader.
