Many years ago a coworker shared that his nephew living in California had gone to a lake with friends. He said his nephew had a terrifying incident whereby while swimming, he felt something grab his foot and pull him deeper under water. He struggled and almost drowned but was able to get loose. He told his friends and family but no one believed him. The very next day his friends went back to the same lake and by then this guy let himself be convinced it was just his imagination, so he went along, too. This time my coworker's nephew went in for a swim, but didn't come out. He drowned. Freaky.

A 6 foot humbolt can kill you no problem. A marine biologist diver found that out the hard way and he wears full chainmail now when he deals with them. They communicate as a hive mind, the gigantic one is the leader and makes decisions. Easily smarter than a human. He tagged a 6 foot to track it and collect data, the squid with some buddies all immediately descended to a very deep depth where the colossal squid was (30 foot or more). Had to be communicating and after a small period of time the other squids removed the tag that had been put on the one squid. High intelligence, hive mind working together, their anatomy and methods. How lose the sail was, after awhile of it flapping in the wind it’ll tear. When it’s being managed by seaman, they’ll keep the sails tight according to the wind.

The sail may have become ripped after having been unattended in unsuitable conditions for the wind of the moment following the disappearance of the crew.

Giant squid was exactly my line of thinking. It would have been bigger then the one shown in the video. It probably was able to reach up and take the men quite easily. The men may have been swimming and the squid could have taken them then. It wouldn’t be a shark because a shark would only attack one man at a time. The same with a salt water crocodile. This would have given the other men the opportunity’s to at least save themselves and possibly attempted to save the one being attacked. The men seemed too experienced to swim in jelly fish infested waters. I doubt it was extraterrestrials. It had to be the giant squid, which would have crept up quietly, suddenly and powerfully and just snatched them from their places, and then to the depths. The squid could have mistook the boat for a whale and attempted to defend itself. When it looked for soft whale flesh to sink it’s sharp hooks into and not finding any, then finding the soft flesh of the men and thinking to peel whale flesh from it’s body, but instead peeling the men from the boat. It probably felt it was teaching the whale a lesson and made off with the poor men, thinking they were whale flesh. I am truly sorry to say this, but I believe that is what happened.

Jumbo squid would have left some damage or marks on the boat. Squid would have rocked the boat throuing small objects to the deck as well. A giant squid would have left evidence of some kind. Marks or scars of some type on the hull, rudder, etc. Plus, one squid is not going to drag three men overboard simultaneously. It would of had to of been of enormous proportions to accomplish such a feat, and even then, what would be the chances of that occurring? All three men at the same time? At least one of them would have been able to ``get below" and radio for help, or even just hide to get out of the way of giant tentacles. No, I'm sorry, but the giant squid hypothesis just doesn't wash. It makes zero sense. And that guy is a real knucklehead if he truly believes that one.
