Are Units Too Good in 2024 (Dokkan Battle)

Dokkan Battle's got a weird relationship with tier lists. Let's talk about why they don't work as they are, and why you shouldn't feel bad about summoning for Broly, Gogeta - or really anyone in 2024.

100% agree. Ive come back to the game after like 7 years and im trying to learn the game again and what characters i should be using my resources on for teams and tier lists are completely useless. I have 200+ ssr’s sitting unupgraded because all i hear about are the top 10. So theres only 10 good characters that can complete end game content? But like what about the other completely viable characters for the hardest content, are there none? 10? 20? 50? Like the whole debate of the top 10 is completely pointless if you dont talk about all the other characters that you put into the team with them. Like i know i have at least 3-5 top tier LR’s, but i cant win shit with them because the characters around them just seem ass and there are like no videos talking about who the good characters to pair with your top tiers are

After 7 years though..? Unless some of them got a super eza you're probably not gonna be able to do shit nowadays dude. You might as well just restart and get some free stones to summon and catch some decent units with the guaranteed SSR.

@@GOTTA_RUN ive been playing for most of this year and have been summoning on several banners. Im not using older units really at all. Which still puts me in the problem of who tf am i supposed to use other than the same 15 characters that every single KZbinr talks about

The only way to make sure you choose the good units is to know which game mechanics are good. Dodging is great but it is a double-edged sword as it is dodge or die on super attacks most of the time, garanteed guard is OP because it is almost like having 50% dmg reduction, talking about damage reduction it is also really strong but nowadays on really hard content you need high dmg reduction, look for units that get high defense stat on top of that because dmg reduction or guard alone can sometimes let you down when facing the bosses of the lastest events. It is usually nice to look for units that get defense when doing super attacks because it raises defense quite a lot. But yeah you hear people talking about the same 20 units because they are the only ones who can survive supers or receive 0 dmg

Gogeta over Buuhan is crazy work, even at his best Gogeta is only going to be a piece of his team (Super Heroes) while Buuhan IS majin power he is the battery that drives that team over most of the content in the game. He doesnt have any of the other top ten units on his team he is almost never a liability either

Gogeta after he goes blue he hase 70% dodge 70% to nulifie ki blast attacks best rainbow orb changer build in crits one of the best mechanics In the game that allows you to take 0 dmg as well as dodging the boss sealing and dmg incress in normals and heals you 54% for 2 turns You say gogeta at hes best is not that good my man gogeta with the active is a top 3 unit that active gives you a lot of free dmg and gives gogeta 100% crits for the rest of the fight buuhan dosen't do that both in base and transformned gogeta is better and i can say that since I have gogeta rainbowed altghou I don't have buuhan rainbowed I can still relay on gogeta more then buhhan due to his kit being so good Buuhan is a very important unit on majin power and yes gogeta is not as important on super hero that dosen't mean hes not good or amazing buhann is good but gogeta is better then him in almost every way both în base and transformned

A unit being the best on a single team does not at all constitute them being better than a unit that isn't the best on a team, Buuhan is amazing but Gogeta has better versatility, has a team protection mechanic, synergizes well with teq ui etc. He is way better and it's not a discussion, if you gave an Lr Kid buu Gogeta's kit, he'd still be better than Buuhan

@skndsidjd7540 Maybe I am over-rating Buutenks' viability in slot one, turn one and beyond. And I did under sell Gogeta's active to a criminal extent. But to say Gogeta's base is better than Buutenks is just flat out wrong. And at this moment, until Beast comes out I feel like Buuhan just has the better/easier setup to be completely honest.

honestly i feel like the only scenarios where the tier list meta even matters is during the top tier hardest events, and a majority of events can be cleared with even just 1 or 2 of those characters effortlessly. i also don't think the "fulfilling various roles" problem of other games even applies to dokkan anymore, because what is beast gohans role? doing everything possible and being invincible? same with cell max, same with SSBE and MUI etc etc. i don't mind the tier list meta, but ppl need to also realize the top 10 isn't the only thing that matters, but grading them on the same criteria is only fair when the only criteria that matters is 1 or 2 events that function identically.

when I saw that Bulma,Zamasu, Future Gohan and Ulitimate Gohan were above GT Duo I knew the list was bad, but UI over Evo really showed me how biased people are. Btw Gammas are not better than anyone in A-

I am so torn on summoning for gammas. I really think they are super cool and love the unit but I’m worried I will regret it when they are power crept into irrelevance in only 6 months

The gammas should still be really good 6 months later. When transformed into gamma 1, he can max out at 80% damage reduction. I see them lasting for a year at least Though they won’t be top 10, that wouldn’t matter

@@Burner135 hopefully. The only that has me worried is how many of these units can’t even damage that new Goku and frieza fight I’ve seen videos of from JP. Considering they may keep or up that in WWD next month

Gogeta is a MAJOR liability before transformation, and I still wouldn't trust him with slot one without his active. Broly, though, is a different story. The dude tanks pretty well, and hits like a truck.

Yeah, these rankings are mainly made with the current meta of teams (super heroes and super bosses) in mind gogeta is realistically only higher than broly because beast can sit in the first few turns while gogeta floats off and transforms the next turn. He's one of the best rainbow orb changers too. broly CAN'T be run as a floater since his transformation is 5 turns from start of apperance, rather than gogeta's 4. So you're quite likely to get supered in slot 1/2 with broly, who isn't the best in base form in a vacuum broly is way better than gogeta, but because gogeta helps out his team so much, a lot more value comes out of him

he rainbow orb changes and raises defense on his 18 and 12 ki making it to where you aren't going to get 1 tapped if he isn't the slot 1 unit. The only way any of gogeta's critque's are valid is if you don't know how to use him and keep him on rotation which you aren't supposed to do. You have him pre-transformed for literally 1 turn as opposed to broly who is stuck in base for 1 extra turn and is no longer the best domain character on his team or the best agl character on his team. even if you take away gogeta's high chance to dodge, rainbow orb changing, built in addition, and built in guarantee crits, he still has a high damaging active that is better the beasts in fights that don't cancel dodge because he can't be sealed and will ensure he has his guarantee crit from the 5 dodges. This isn't like agl vegito where you have to jump over 50 hoops for him to be good In best case scenario, gogeta is one of the easiest characters to play and passively makes your team better.
