@Estyria - Neither one of my sons and wives had weddings that cost that much. One pair had it in Garden of the Gods here in Colorado Springs with just the immediate family and the other pair hiked into the mountains and videoed their vows in the forest. No special gowns, bridesmaids, groomsmen, etc. for either one of them. Mine was a lot more, $600, 49 years ago in a church, with bridesmaids and groomsmen, I made some of the snacks, my aunt made the floral arrangements and I got a wedding dress in a smaller size to fit my torso rather than getting one that fit my shoulders and have to have it altered. All the other dresses were handmade by talented family members. I know it was a long time ago, and we only had the basics, but I cannot imagine having to spend $15,000 on a wedding!

@chrisstaub58803 жыл бұрын
Exactly, the idea is to get rid of debt fast, and having minimal savings should help provide motivation to do that. Besides, if draining your savings to pay for something leaves so little remaining that it makes you feel uncomfortable, it usually means you shouldn't have bought it in the first place. That's why Dave told the caller he should just sell the car if he's not wiling to pay it off in full now.

@@chrisstaub5880 Thank you for answering . I respect that many people follows the strategy you mention and works for them , my point is that , yes , mistakes were made, so let's not get new debt , let's try to pay as fast as possible, but let's not destroy cash reserves that can be crutial in the event of an accident , pandemic , sickness, losing a job or similar. In case something like that happened to someone like the caller, if he had paid off the debt and something happened, he would be in a terrible situation, but , if something happened and he had all of his cash , he would have a few months to find a new job, or work out something before being in a desperate position.
