I am over celebrity brands that don’t make sense for their own personal brands. For example, Pattern Beauty made sense because Tracie is known for her big and beautiful curly hair. She also marketed it correctly and didn’t start off with saying it’s celebrating black hair. She was marketing to all curly hair. Rihanna is known for fashion and her makeup looks so her brands made sense. Tia didn’t do her marketing research right and the campaign messed her up since it was clear she wanted to target the black hair market. Tia isn’t known for her hair. She’s known for her humor and her cooking skills. She needs me or another person who has experience with marketing to help her redo her brand and make corrections if she doesn’t want to go into the red.

I think this is why Pattern by Tracee Ellis Ross is doing sooo well… this is a celebrity who has always has her hair out & is proud of her hair! In regards to other celebrities trying to get a piece of this hair “cake” I’m not mad at them BUT at the same time I’m not interested either. At this point I’m sticking with whatever hair products I have that I know works & call it a day! Thank you so much for your videos!!!!

I feel like the nice thing with Rihanna’s products is that she actually takes time to be involved in the process. Yeah she’s not a chemist, but is ensuring the quality of her products. Not only that, she has shown that it can work on people from various cultures. Making sure it’s as inclusive as she can make it. (I’ve only tried her skincare and makeup). I’m sure the other brands have some science involved, but how many of them take the time to ensure the quality of what there trying to sell us?

I think celebrity brands for black hair need to have a team with all textures represented. You can't have 2b and try to create products for 4c if you don't know anyone with 4c.

People are criticizing Tia’s line because she doesn’t seem receptive to feedback. Her team is blocking people instead. Her line needs expanding and not properly formulated for dense type 4 hair especially for wash n go’s that will last more than a day. I don’t think it’s intent of the black community to say coily hair isn’t natural just that her hair texture doesn’t represent the whole natural hair community.
@tiahnarodriguez3809 Жыл бұрын
@@Nataliesnecessities Lots of people also criticized her for being biracial even though she was hailed as the “black twin”, and for having a looser hair texture even though there are plenty of full black people who have a looser curl pattern. My only peeve was she didn’t have diverse textures in her ad, and I thought it was weird how she marketed her product as “filling in a gap” when we have more natural hair products than ever, so the focus should have been on what sets her products apart. Tia really needs to listen to the constructive feed back if she’s serious about making this line last cuz it really does seem like it’s a cash grab.

I think the big difference with a Tia and Tracee is that Tracee has always worn her hair out openly and very proud of her natural curls. I have rarely seen Tia in recent years with her natural hair. Even when she does the ‘reveal’ of ‘her’ hair using her products it looks like she has added hair because her hair isn’t that long. So it did seem like she was just doing this to be doing it. On one hand you have products going “viral” like some infamous bronzing drops that we don’t need to name because everyone reading this is saying “I’ve tried to buy it for months” including 9yr olds not knowing that these bronzing drops have active ingredient skin care that is NOT needed for someone who is 9yrs old only because they saw an influencer using it but not EDUCATING that it has ingredients that are meant to be anti-aging. NOTHING a 9yo needs. However, people like you, who I completely respect for all the knowledge nuggets you drop, I would trust because of exactly THAT… the KNOWLEDGE you drop. It’s not about creating a video or “trend” but share facts! So the 98% trusting influencers isn’t surprising.. however coma, depends on the influencer it’s coming from. The modern day celebrity is all about building their brand. No industry is safe. There is celebrity makeup, alcohol, food, restaurants, clothes, shoes, haircare products, hair accessories, cookware, cookbooks, books, fragrances, skincare products, lingerie, houseware, etc. Some are very involved with the production/development/marketing. Others just slap their name on stuff or partner with established companies. And it's not always easy to find out what their role is in the business. It's a lot.

Multiple sizes are available at Sephora, Amazon & their website. There's the original blue & the lemon scent that's clear which I prefer the 🍋. Tip, don't over saturate brushes & dry with bristles pointing down to avoid damaging the adhesive. It's a little pricey but it works like magic & you don't need a lot. I don't have enough space to lay brushes flat to dry, so I got a multi size 28 hole brush drying tower from Amazon 😉

I think my personal issue with hair brands that are launched by mixed/loose curly hair women. It’s that sometimes it feels like it excludes tight curly Afro hair. Like the Afro hair that mimics (dare is say cotton). With Tia and her tik Tok. It was like well… my hair looks nothing like that wet, dry, product or no product. So for her to say she wants to represent black Women… well tbh her hair type already has the representation. 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️ anyways not mad at the hustle. I just kinda tune everything out at this point because I feel like tight coiled hair has been pushed under the table and it kinda makes it feel like it doesn’t exist lol.
@tiahnarodriguez3809 Жыл бұрын
Tightly coiled hair has always been pushed back, so nothing new or surprising there. As for looser textures marketing to tighter textures it really depends on the owner because Monica (Mielle) makes products that curly and kinky girls use and genuinely like. Where as Mixed Chicks for example is truly for looser textured naturals, but I’ve heard some type 4’s like their products, I’m just not one of them cuz my kinks need heavy products. Tracee did good with Pattern. I’m not a fan of her products, but she has a range that caters to curly and kinky hair types and lots of people rave about them.

IMHO, the biggest reason people tend to purchase products "promoted" (for lack of a better word) on social media is because you usually see the influencer actually USE the products and show their results. While different influencers may have different recommendations, you sort of know them and can find the ones who are most similar to you. My hair is fine 2B with some 3A spots and colored so I would tend to pay more attention to influencers with similar hair as me. I would be less inclined to choose products for someone with 4B-4C hair even if they got good reviews because my hair is not like that. Yes, there are so many celebrity brands entering the market I think it is super saturated and people have brand exhaustion but if the product is good for you, use it regardless of whose brand it is. Also, funny you should mention cleaning your brushes. I did half of mine today and will do the other half tomorrow. Do I still get credit? 😉 Love your stuff!

When I was young in the 90s you just didn't see being mixed race as a celebrated identity. I think it was usually ignored or not talked about. Or you were put in a box, you were beautiful if you straightened your hair or wore wigs. But if you had your natural hair then you were not taking care of your hygiene. Now that you see it more often nowadays in everyday life, commercials, movies, etc people want to judge how white or black that person is. People need to just let people be. As a mixed race person I celebrate all my heritage. ... prob black a bit more cuz well... the Caucasian side doesn't have the best track record. Lol. But that's my choice and not up to others to decide for me or others. I like that there's a mixed race option to check mark on documents... not sure why some have in parenthesis "not of Hispanic origin" but hey that's America slowly improving but still a little racist.

I'm over it. I'm Sticking with my Carol's daughter ,shea moister, and my TGIN hair products. I keep saying this most brands like Tia they gonna make sure their products work for their hair 1st A lot of women don't have Tia's hair , So it's not gonna work for them Pattern beauty the same way,. I did try Gabriel Union's hair products and I like hers but I haven't bought anyone else's hair products. And I don't plan on it

This is a random question but honestly i needdddd helpppp!!!! I am a natural curly girl … my curls are about a 3b /3c and ive always wanted to wear my curls all year round but i struggle to figure out why my curls only work in specific climates. Im from virginia and recently moved back from miami. In miami, my curls thrivvveeeddddd!!!! I mean they were defined, soft and moisturized. Now that I am back im Va, my curls are dry, the product doesnt seem to penetrate in my strands no matter what i use and my curls just look so baddddd. I get so frustrated i end up just flat ironing my hair so I do not have to deal with it anymore. Ive tried shower filters to change the water type, switching products, deep conditioners, trims, cuts etc… i just do not know what to do to get my curls to flourish in VA the way they did in miami!!! Any suggestions?

Interesting! I have 3c/4a curls, with some 3b mixed in there, I’m also from Virginia but I moved to Chicago for college, but I moved back here a couple years ago. My curls do pretty well in VA, but I’m no curly expert. That said, have you tried incorporating more heat into your routines, ie steaming or deep conditioning with heat? The first thing that I thought of looking at your question is that your hair lowered in porosity. Also, were there any other life changes that affected your routine? My routine changed a lot after finishing college and starting work, and tbh I’m still finding the balance that I had in college when I had no time. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful, but I’m sure there’s a solution for you somewhere!

Could be the water
@GB2595 Жыл бұрын
Do you have hard water? Maybe that is the issue. Hard water creates a mineral buildup on the hair and scalp. And it needs a special hard water shampoo to remove. Maybe that is something to look at. And if it is hard water, getting a water softener for the shower could be really beneficial. Means you don’t have to clarify your hair constantly.
@melleciosa Жыл бұрын
Try a chelating shampoo for deep clarifying... then a filter of the issue is indeed the water in your municipality

I wouldn't say I'm 'over' celebrity products, but I get it. I just try and make sure I watch/read reviews and keep in mind what their hair type is vs mine

😂 For me once you wash your make up brushes and blenders, they ain’t the same! Especially the blenders, they expand and just feel different. I just threw my old ones away and bought new ones… does that count? 🙈🙈 I don’t buy celebrity branded products tbh, too expensive and there are other normal brands I trust. I do looove the Beyoncé heat perfume though 😊

I came to this video to like and say - yes. yes we are. the market is just over saturated. Its hard to tell what companies actually did their own thing, and which bought some premade product and slapped their label on it.
@jeanninegorden8142 Жыл бұрын
The person who approached you was basically offering you a white label brand. Lots of products across industries are made in the same factories. Then the "brand name" is placed on the packaging.

Girl!!!! I'm sitting here screaming YES! YES! YES!! to everything you are listing in your requirements for your dream hair brand!! People in my apartment complex are gonna think I have a phantom boyfriend!!!🤣🤣 when it comes to ANY hair brand, the ONLY thing I am looking for, is ...."does it work on MY hair"????? I think that is truly all we are collectively looking for, and that is all we should be worried about. If so called celebrities are only looking for a money grab-ok, I got no problem with that- as long as the stuff they are putting out WORKS! If it is crap, down the hatch they go, straight to the garbage just like Miss Veruka Salt.

For me some of the celebrity brands made sense like Fenty Beauty, Honest Company by Jessica Alba, and Pattern where Tracy rocks her natural hair daily and they are being the proof as to why their products work and why we as consumers should buy it. My issue with Tia’s brand is her end results when she is showing her hair done she has on curly extensions that to me is being misleading. Show your results with your own hair not with added extensions. Taraji I have never seen her natural hair but you want me to just trust that your products are good because you put your name on it? No m’am.

Can we just say let's keep natural hair products to people that actually has the experience and did the research on natural hair and what would be beneficial to us. I have tried so many celebrities product hair lines and Hates it and had to go back to what I was used to. Like just because we finally embracing natural hair doesn't mean this is a gap to make money. If they wanna make money on hair care lines then make a good product if you can't just leave it and stick to what you know best

The only two celebrity brands I use are Fenty and Pattern, it really is annoying that all these celebs are launching beauty brands, it’s overkill. Don’t get me started on the mixed race thing, as a mixed race person myself, I hate people thinking we’re not black, it’s selective outrage.

I think I'd they have a good brand I want it all. Like I love patterns products. I love Rhode by Hailey Bieber because I know she cares about skincare and always has so I know her brand is legitimate. I love these videos sooo much by you. And I love how authentic you are about everything. I seriously love you so much. You're just so realistic and it's true!! And I'm excited to see you use that carols daughter product. I want to see it

I think Tia would have gotten a better reception if she would have focused her brand around mixed-curly hair. The only other brand I’ve seen for mixed hair is Mixed Chicks. And nothing would have been wrong about that. But then she can’t accept the criticism from influencers who she’s trying to sell to. Like come on girl…. But I want her to succeed in the hair industry.

I'm not over some of the celebrity brands because even though they aren't chemists they care about quality and are in volved in the products making process, like Fenty & Honest Beauty.

I feel like if your brand is great without your name then it is a good brand but if we have to associate your brand with your name then that's the issue. For example, I haven't heard great things about Rem Beauty unless they were from fans of Ariana Grande but people who aren't fans of Ariana I haven't heard great things about it. I didn't even watch the Super Bowl but I did watch the halftime. I love the Keys cleansing balm but I can't stand the candle.
@janayroyster9968 Жыл бұрын
I don't have a issue with celebs or influencers doing brands as long as it's something they're known for and they put in quality ingredients and effort into the brands. Also, what are they offering to the industry that other existing brands aren't providing? Lastly, which is the nail in the coffin for these brands is how they and handle public criticism about their products and how they address it. Do they say thank you for the feedback and fix it or do they let their ego get involved and just chalk it up to people being "haters" , blame it on the customers, or flat out lie like Jacylin Hill does.
