All very well said. I have plenty of mics and recorders, but it is my Rode Wireless Pro kit that I grab when I have limited space in my bag or whenever I do not know in advance what I will need. So much versatile and I have zero problem with the sound quality either. Sometimes I even use it with shotgun mics so that I can avoid a cable jumble. It can work as mono or stereo mics, can even record three people in interviews, it is a pair of 32bit floating point recorders, wireless/radio kit, clipon mics, USB audio interface... it can be connected to virtually anyting, or can be used stand alone, even without the receiver turned on... Yes, I would probably not use them in a Hollywood movie, but come on, I never shoot Hollywood movies.

I've just ordered the Lark Max. I have the M2 already, and the quality is good for something so small, and the noise cancellation is crazy.

@ThatOneVirgil I've had a go work it in the back yard on Monday, with a fair wind going and the lav under the top. No popping wind noise, and with the voice cancellation, practically no wind noise at all. I was considering the Rode Wireless Pro, but decided to save a little money, because for what I need, 32- bit Float is not essential. So far no regrets.

I have a Fulaim X5 which I love. I also have a cheaper wired lav which sounds better plugged directly into my iPhone 12pm BUT worse when plugged into the Fulaim!!!

Some phone preamps can sound great! Mine is destroyed though 😅
