What percentage of Muslim women are financially independent? I'm an ex-Muslim who comes from a very large Muslim family and 80% of the women are financially dependent on their husbands, especially in Islamic countries. Don't spread lies!!

Islam does not prevent a 60 year old man from taking a 20 year old bride as his second wife. If his 58 year old first wife has no other means of support, she will have to suffer in silence because he'll be sexually inclined towards the younger woman.

Islam emphasizes fairness, compassion, and the well-being of all individuals in a marriage. While polygamy is allowed, it comes with strict guidelines to ensure justice and support for all wives. A husband must treat all wives equally and provide for them adequately. If he can not fulfil these obligations, he should not engage in polygamy. It's essential to differentiate cultural practices from Islamic teachings, which prioritize the dignity and rights of every individual.

@Inspirovella - He can continue treating his wives equally and that is the easy part. The difficult part is that he'll be sexually more attracted to the much younger and attractive wife because his 58 year old first isn't sexually desirable anymore. She has gotten fat and lost her looks.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Isn't the witness of a woman equal to half of that of a man?" The women said, "Yes." He said, "This is because of the deficiency of a woman's mind."

The hadith you're referencing is often misunderstood. The context is essential here. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was highlighting the practicalities of a specific situation, not making a blanket statement about women's intellect. In the context of legal testimony, it was related to certain types of cases where emotional involvement might affect recollection, and having two women as witnesses was a way to ensure accuracy, not a reflection of women's overall capability or intelligence. Islam recognizes the value and wisdom of women, and there are many examples of women in Islamic history who were scholars, leaders, and decision-makers. It's important to consider the broader teachings of Islam and how they emphasize justice, equality, and the unique strengths of both men and women. If you have further questions or thoughts, I'm happy to discuss them.

I understand that leaving a faith is a deeply personal decision. However, I invite you to reconsider and explore Islam again with an open heart. Sometimes, our understanding of faith can be shaped by experiences or teachings that may not fully reflect the true essence of the religion. Islam is about peace, compassion, and a deep connection with the Creator. If you're ever open to discussing or rediscovering what Islam truly teaches, I'm here to support that journey. You're always welcome to ask questions or share your thoughts.

Thank you for your insightful comment. You’re absolutely right-Islam, in its true essence, promotes respect and equality for women. The issues often stem from societal norms and the mentality of individuals, not the religion itself. It’s crucial to distinguish between cultural practices and Islamic teachings. Real Muslims, as you mentioned, uphold the values of justice and respect for all.

Isn't the same problem exist with each religion. Every religion told its followers to respect women but the society and mentality remain the actual problem regarding oppression of women.

@@Inspirovella As long as in the islamic religion there are parents who kill their daugthers, women , for the code of honor , when they cannot travel alone , are forcibly married with arranged marriages, some are forbidden to work and study, are forced to wear those garments...there is no comparison wits the Christian religion wher women are respected and independent , they decide for their lives .
