I could be wrong but I think you can switch freely between technical inputs and simple inputs on the fly. I also really like that this game has both a block button and hold back to block, so you can use whichever suits you better.

That's how it generally works, but there is an option to turn off technical inputs if you want.

I think they changed it so technical and simple inputs act the same now. There is no longer a penalty for using simple inputs... unless they reversed that change. Please correct me if I am wrong.

This was true for the last beta, but for this one technical inputs did 10% more damage.

Specifically, technical inputs do 10% more in neutral, there is no difference in damage if they're done during a combo.
