Good spotting. The tires scared the heck out of me though, no way I could have driven that. I think I've seen a video of a Gladiator on street tires having similar trouble. My favorite part 'you can go forward' 'Yes, but I don't want to' Kind of sums up the trail.

I just bought a 2017 TRD LB with a 3” lift, the e locker and 33” bfg ATs. I will skip this trail, thank you very much. Just in case you guys think nobody is listening to your warnings. Like your videos. You are definitely a good spotter! Your husband definitely needs to understand how close he is to things. Thanks! Sometimes spotting takes way more effort than people realize. To be fair to him, the sides are pretty loose and with a kid in the truck you want to be extra careful. Black bear is tricky in several places.

It was a crazy day when we ran this. I definitely wouldn't recommend a stock long bed doing black bear after doing this. We got lucky that everything went perfectly To do it again, I'd want a bigger, more aggressive tire. Nothing crazy, but it would help a lot.

You did a good job. No doubt longer wheel base added to the challenge. Your truck would do extremely well in other off-road situations. Some rock sliders would add some peace of mind.

I think the jeep being on 37's is part of what made it want to roll. i think Blackbear is one trail that lends itself to smaller tires over larger. stock Tacoma probably a bit too small. but 33's is probably closer to the sweet spot. you do not want massive tires raising you center of gravity when you're on a tippy trail.

The two places on BBP that would kill me are the steps/ledges just above the turn at the waterfall at the top of the switchbacks, and the first (right turn) switchback after the waterfall. Everything else is meh. Those two places would be my downfall because while I don't give a crap about heights in and of themselves, I have serious issues with unprotected edges of any height. I keep going back and forth as to which of the two is worse. =)

Nice video! I've come all the way from Florida 3 years in a row.. 2020, 2021 and 2022.. and did Black bear each time. First time in my stock 2019 Tacoma TRD offroad. Second and 3rd time it was lifted on 33s and way better suspension. First 2 times I did the steps in the pouring rain, by myself, no spotter. I'm not sure how you managed to tetter that much. I never lifted a wheel on this pass yet. Even stock. I might do it again next month while I'm out there. First, Moab and the White Rim trail, again!

In the practice of serious mountaineering climbing, is a must to perform an exercise of the factors that affecting evaluations of riks and harzards. Do it efficiently or not, could translate in return to home safety or not. Technical factors as previous experience and serious training and, over all, common sense, are replaced by self overdimensioned appreciation of own experience, budget capacity, skills and optimal decisions-make. You can see this in Everest or in the off road trails in your country and mine. People, even with ingenuosness, assume that take a tour to and 8000 peak, or drive over highly exposed terrain, is a matter of hire an expedition company or buy a vehicle, that the salesman ensures to you, that can climb walls, deep mud or slippery snow without any problem. The core factor do not reside in the expensive items you can use or afford, fundamentally is about you and your capacity of handle internal and external factors. What is in play is not a KZbin or TikTok opportunity, is essentially about your life. But, in general, this is so difficult....
