Cause you always have a legal rights against the mistress. But to be of the same position as his mom, cant fight cause its his mom no matter what. And no matter what i do or say, he just dont get it. Worst, he would always choose her than me. I felt like im a mistress of his marriage to his mom…a mamas boy is just so different from someone who just adores and love their mom…Sorry…just needed this

You're absolutely correct. My ex's mom divorced his dad in 99 and it just went downhill from there. Basically he was a surrogate spouse to her. We were a week away from our wedding and I backed out saying I couldn't do it anymore. There's a term called emotional incest and let me tell you, that's exactly what was happening. It's going to sound weird and gross because it is but in her mind, even subconsciously, it was like he was cheating on her with me. I'm sure you've heard of Oedipus complex, there's the inverse of that called Jocasta complex. My relationship was full of that and I ended up leaving 8 years ago. I don't regret it. From what I hear, nothing has changed almost a decade later. I'm glad I made the right decision and didn't marry this mama's boy. He needs to grow up and his mom needs to cut the umbilical cord.

Juicy Fruit, as much as I enjoy S. Harvey, while reading the comments as I was listening to him, I turned off the volume when reading your comment because I HAD to reply. A man who loves his mother is beyond the pack of men who do not. Men who have issues with their mothers, calling them names, always complaining, are really passively hating. It will not take long being with a man who have momma issues to know what his fist look like. He will beat a woman for all the times he wanted to beat his mother, and God have mercy should he have a daughter that looks like her. There is a difference between a man child who refuse to grow up or sometimes defined by a young male who has to grow up faster than his years and a mamma's boy. Women who seek the man who don't give a damn about his mother, in more ways than one, they have it coming.

I think it's great to have a close relationship with parents in general of course....if it is a healthy relationship that is awesome. Once you start building your own life with a family in marriage some of these relationships can take a toll on a marriage. I feel like it is the job of the " mommas boy" in question to leave and cleave. That doesn't mean to abandon totally just mean that you are setting healthy boundaries for yourself and marital family. Also not to forget this must be practice before the actual marriage. Momma boy sometime will find that their mother and wife just can't get a long.... there is a reason for this and in a lot of situation it's because the son doesn't set healthy boundaries which can bring out a whole host of relational problems.

My MIL is the sweetest. Ironically, her and I get along very well, if anything, she has been like the mother I wish I had. But I feel like she may have dropped the ball on this one.. My partner has some narcissistic (NPD) traits, Idk where he got them, seeing how kind his mom is. It may have to do with his younger siblings getting certain preferences over him. But like a true narc, he's gotta put someone on a pedestal. That would be his mother and sister. And in the past, he has said some horrible things to me, which he could never say to either of them. So, I know now where I stand. I could never reach that level of love and respect from him, especially since he makes it very clear that mom is his #1 priority. And I feel like I barely make it on his list of priorities. Recently, we broke up, him and I. Since he's been practically living with her anyways. At first, It started with spending nights there, for her safety, so that she's not alone at night in the new house and neighborhood. I was okay with that, figured he'd make time for me at some point. But now he's over there 24/7, and practically moved in w/ her. And no, she isn't ill or needs any round the clock care. She's still very independent. She just kills us all with kindness. But Killing with kindness still kills, nonetheless. And it has indirectly killed our relationship. I understand wanting to always show your son welcoming in your home, but once in a while she could have dropped him a hint or two, to go home to his partner, and work on those relationships as well... I have a son, and if I were in her position, I'd toss him a hint or mention to him once in a while, "Son, you know you are always welcome here, but for a relationship to remain strong, you must spend some quality time with your SO. Or go and see if she needs your help with anything.." Which I did, by the way, need his help. Over the years, we have acquired two large dogs that seem to be my sole responsibility now. I love them to bits, of course, but its the principle of the matter. He knows I have a bad back and needed his help tons of times, at least to put them outside, or for walks. But he completely forgot about me. Until I am needed once again, to help them with things, wifi, research, admin stuff, over at the new place. But he rarely comes home to help me here, while I'm overhauling this place by myself. And getting ready to move out into the new place with them. (I know.) If I didn't know better, I would think that was a very sneaky and selfish on her part. To just keep him to herself like that. Without considering what could be going on outside of thieir mother/son dynamic. And speak up to him about it. Send him home once in a while! Since she loves me so much, right? But it was quite the opposite, actually. She kept him so busy always there, and once or twice, when he would come home to finally hang out with me, she'd call him, and say, "Son, it's nine o'clock already, were you still going to head back tonight, or...?" As if she was leaving the decision up to him, but of course, just the fact she even mentioned it, now he's running back home to her. He cannot deny her anything, ever, even if just a trivial suggestion here or there. Now, him and I have gone from being a couple, to just roommates, to then just being nothing more than business partners. Because we had already sarted a business venture together, the 3 of us, which now must be followed through for the best interest of all of us involved. Meanwhile, I feel like crawling into a hole, full of shame for being so naive, after coming from a broken family, only to fall into this bittersweet farse.

Because of oppressive stereotypes. Guys who are dependent on their moms are labeled as weak and testosterone drained while girls dependent on their dads are seen as being naturally girly.

My ex: "Our relationship can't go forward if you keep bringing problems to my family" (I hadn't done anything except a few minor things his mom didn't like). Also: "Because of you, I can't spend time with my mom". (Because we were shopping in a department store that I wasn't familiar with so I got lost while he was with his mom and he had to come and get me). What a mess that was.

I disagree with Steve . But not the last one My 2 older brothers are mamas boys & not talking like that. For me, what Steve shows is a man who have a strong Mama with strong value that makes his son love & respect her. In here its a good sign for a good husband. My sons might be respond like that to girls. But they are independent young boys with high responsibility on their age. We teaching them to be a good husband & father. I Will be damned if they not treat their future family like Ive been teaching them. Yes a woman like that will get a girl in trouble when having relationship with the son/s. Some tribe in my country even have a strong matriarc culture that allowed Moms & the council determined their sons marriage.

Black hearted is the way forward. Not a ladies man or a mans man! Just a man, on his road to wherever. Isn't anyone else's business. I've taught this to so many men now. They are more like soldiers now... function, no emotion, simple!

My friend is dating a mommas boy. I feel for her. He FaceTimes his mom every day. He tells her everything about their relationship and he doesn’t give his gf the opportunity to give her side of the story to his mom which she finds frustrating cus sometimes he doesn’t give the facts as she sees them. Although the mom treats her nicely, she will always take her son’s side with everything and this makes my poor friend question herself when he does something to upset her.

Here's a mammas boy. A 60year old man who's mama cooks his meals and makes him a plate. Washes his clothes, And everytime She leaves the house he ask can I go,? My brother does that. No he's not so mentally handicapped that he can't cook his own meals. He just won't. Plus his mom has COPD and a blood clot and cancer. Taking advantage of her. We've had words over this almost to the point of fighting. I really need your input, your advice. Tell me what y'all think of this pathetic situation
