Thank you Fr. Pine. I've been away from the church 25+ years and after attending a TLM with my son and his wife, have started my way back to the church. I was a convert all those years ago (having married a Catholic man), but never really understood a lot of the teachings. Now I'm praying the Rosary, doing Cardinal Burke's Novena, and trying to learn as much as I can. I appreciate this video because I'm not sure if I'm making progress or not. There are days I feel His presence, and day's I feel like I'm drifting alone and only hearing the echo of my prayers.

I was very blessed to receive the eucharistic from Fr. Pine's hands at St. Dominic's in Washington DC. When I saw him celebrate the mass, I was like "I'm sure I've seen him on pints with aquinas"...

“We can only be in this place and not in that place.” Looks like Father Gregory Pine does not watch Jimmy Akin’s Mysterious World… 😁 On a serious note, providence has brought this video to me at this time. I’ve been trying in every way the Church provides for us to grow closer to God (prayer, the sacraments, etc), but I haven’t felt like I’ve actually become stronger spiritually 😔

This is both encouraging and so confusing at the same time, life is so confusing. Catholicism also seems rather complex sometimes I mean do you need a PhD to become Holy? I find that I have no idea most of the time whether I'm getting holier or worse or just stagnant despite regular Mass, Confession etc I actually find it difficult to differentiate myself from the every man in fact most of the time I think I'm worse. I have never had an experience of 'arriving' or 'not arriving' am I missing something? I have also run marathons at a decent level, yet I fail to see the analogy. I found that being increasingly fitter made the training runs easier as opposed to being beginner unfit and it being an absolute slog. The older I get, the more confused I seem to become, despite learning about and striving to practice the faith. Is it important or crucial even that one is 'aware of' becoming 'holier' and how does one even begin to know it? isn't it sinful to consider oneself as 'holy'? I know I may be confusing the two things here. Perhaps more videos on this topic are necessary as holiness is our ultimate goal correct? Maybe I've missed something or I just need a majorly dumbed down version of this very dense distillation of the topic. Thanks!

Clearly not getting holier. Just now I HISSED at a disabled man who wanted my seat on Bus (I'm elderly and can barely walk) even though there's plenty of seats adjacent. Bus driver made me give him my seat. I did, but I hissed. I have Cats. Hissing comes naturally. Kindness doesn't.
