First learn from Singapore and Kuala Lumpur how they keep their streets clean, public transportation efficient and have proper sidewalks for people to walk on.

yes, I think it's better from Tokyo since Singapore and Kuala lumpur is not as populated and congested compared to Metro Manila.

@@noeminoemi1350 Vehicle population in Singapore is about 1 million for a population of about 5 million plus, and 7.7 million in Greater Kuala Lumpur for a population of about 7million people. By comparison Metro Manila vehicle population is 1.4 million for a population of 14.7 million people. So I believe it's a fair comparison to use Singapore and Kuala Lumpur as benchmarks as despite having a larger car population per capita, both these cities have lesser traffic and more metro systems as well as walkways. You need to compare countries similar to yours and not with an advanced nation such as Japan, which your country certainly is not. Let's also not forget that the size of Singapore is 728.6km square, Greater Kuala Lumpur 5,195 km square, while Metro Manila is just 636 km square. So in theory, it should be easier to improve Metro Manila due to its smaller size.

what are you talking about, I didn't infer anything about using Japan as a comparison because PHils is an advanced country. I'm talking about for a country with a huge population like Japan with 130million people ,which is similar to the high population of PHilippines, about 110 million, which despite of, they manage to keep their countries clean and organized. Also people make garbage , not cars, so your comparison with car ownership is wrong. Yes there are less car ownerships in Metro Manila but there are 10 more million people generating garbage , jaywalking, breaking laws that also create traffic. ANd it's not wrong to try and copy and get inspiration from the good points of another country advanced or not.

@@noeminoemi1350 So even if you make a comparison based on population, it's a clear fail for Metro Manila. With a population lesser than Japan and the city of Tokyo, The Philippines and Metro Manila is a total mess, with extremely poor garbage, sewage and road management. Lets not forget all Mass Rapid systems in Metro Manila and old and not disabled or elderly friendly. There are no proper walk escalators or elevators in most stations. Many stations don't even have proper walking platforms and one needs to cross the road to get to the other side of the station, which is not pedestrian friendly. Only selected roads have pedestrian or cycling ways. A total overhaul of systems and thinking needs to be done to revolutionize and to modernize Metro Manila. It won't happen in a year or two, but maybe a decade or two. That's how severe the system is currently. Metro Manila is about several decades away from its peers in the region, in development.

@@josephmanzuni8593 Metro Manila population is probably around 23 million. Kuala Lumpur is around 2 million. It's better to learn from Tokyo how to keep an overpopulated city clean and organized than Kuala lumpur .

Very welcome news for us who would like to tour MM but are clueless on how to go on about it. A very reassuring info for my bucket list or even a fantasy tour that could easily become a reality. Thanks for the good news.

First thing first: The secretary should understand preservation while foreign tourists flocking the Philippines. Boracay - Palawan - Baguio are coming back to a maximum threshold of tourists that must be controlled or it will be a short-term tourism in the Philippines. Most Filipinos still lack education on how to clean the environment. Children must be taught of cleanliness - discarding garbage and hygiene. Infrastructure still lacking like public clean toilet and other tourist needs. Restaurant - food vendors - market vendors as well as street food vendors requires to wear white clothing - gloves as well as hairnets. Penalize those vendors that gouging prices, services as well as taxi and grab drivers. Eliminate eyesores in the city such as tarps hanging , old taxis, jeepneys, old tricycles that are noisy and pollutes. Power wash all old buildings and re- paint.
