If you study the stats, there are 2 factors that effect how effective a mass shooter is. 1. Time The amount of time the shooter has to operate unchallenged. 2. Rounds incoming EVEN if you carry a .32. Even if you arent connecting with the target. SHOTS DOWN RANGE can stop the killing. Should you carry a 32? Not in my opinion (Gen5 MOS 19 for me). Should connecting be the goal? Of course. But that moment when the shooter hears a bullet crack by his head and has to focus on defense instead of killing...changes the entire scenario and SAVES LIVES.

@@MrColdwatercanyon No way brother!!! You could stop a mass shooting from 50 yards with that thing. At the mall shooting in Oregon, the shooter was on the second floor raining down lead from above with some modern sporting rifle (I forget what kind). A guy with a tiny 32 auto drew his gun and aimed at the guy. He didnt take the shot becuase their were people behind the target. It went like this... The shooters rifle jammed. He looked up and saw the dude with the gun. The shooter ran around a corner, cleared the malfunction. And immediately shot himself in the head. Most of these animals are on a suicide mission. They dont want to deal with any armed response. They want a FPS scenario. As soon as another gun is involved they risk injury and arrest. When that isnt the plan, ANY action aimed at them can end it. And even if that doesnt happen, rounds from cover at the target stops him from killing someones mum. Or child. He has to now focus on dealing with you. Just remember, concealment isn't cover! But the point is...YOU CAN STOP A SHOOTER WITH THAT GUN!

I know this sounds a little gross but when I shoot pistol classes I often wait to pee as long as I can during courses of fire. The need to pee adds a good deal of artificially imposed physical stress to your training....... If you can keep your concentration while about to pee your pants it will make you better. I often train on uneven ground as well.....you have to be very careful not to trip and fall but uneven ground puts your balance a little off.....kills your hope of a stance and adds physical stress compounding through the day. Nice smooth flat square ranges are not really your friend. It's nice for Clint Smith to teach......but it's not very realistic. Uneven ground makes you slow down and be very deliberate about your movements in order to be safe. Here is another tip. Hesitate before you reholster....do your after action assessment...then slowly and reluctantly holster. I often wait to feel that my finger is out if the trigger guard.....then glance at the holster to make sure no shirt, equipment or debris are in the holster then slowly reholster.

I agree. Carrying a Glock 43, I know I don't have enough ammo to get into a fire fight. My only aimin a situation such as the Walmart shooting would be to help get as many people to safety as possible while covering their escape and , if the opportunity presents itself, get a few shots off at the perp before exiting myself. All I can do is all I can do... I have a family to go home to also. As Clint Eastwood said, " a man's got to know his limitations.

I agree. My primary responsibility is to my family that would be with me. If I am able to help anyone else I’d like to think I would but family first. I’ve even discussed it extensively with my girlfriend. If shooting starts we fight to escape not trade rounds with some psycho. A lot of people train on a static range and think they’re going to be the hero when in reality it’s much different when someone is shooting back
@brazyflow28505 жыл бұрын
jeepn0811 yeah in reality one doesn’t know how they’ll act when someone is shooting back even if you carry you might just run away or freeze up. And after it you’ll be like I should of done this or that. Sure the ideal situation is someone carrying puts an end to it but it’s just so many factors to it that make it hard. You got heart racing, stress, sweat, fear etc I think one will just put themselves and loved ones first instead of hunting the shooter. I one for yes will put loved ones first and after it all I’m not guilted by others that why didn’t I use my gun to help end it

About firing at a distance: There was a mass shooting at Fairchild Air Force Base hospital in 1994. The bad guy had an AK style rifle of some kind with a drum magazine. Having been through a mass shooting, I can assure you that your first course of action won't be to pull your gun. You need cover first, and then you need to assess what the hell is actually going on/who is doing the shooting. Additionally, you shouldn't draw your gun unless you are well within range of the threat. Anybody in plain clothes holding a gun is a "bad guy" when the shit is hitting the fan. You don't want to get clapped by another concealed carrier or security personnel because they see your weapon and assume you're the shooter/one of the shooters. It's a hugely dynamic and chaotic situation, and proper training is an absolute must if you're planning on sending rounds flying into the public domain.

It's not about being cocky at all it's about experiencing high stress life and death situations on a regular basis no matter if it's experience in combat as a Veteran or serving as a Police Officer for many many years the point is it goes something like this " I don't like violence but I am familiar with it in my environment very often" People that deal with it on a frequent basis still get scared and have fear especially after it all ends but in the moment those types of people "just act" it's just a coping mechanism. Not all people do this even the most experienced people who have seen dynamic crazy situations may freeze up or flee or go into denial and get tunnel vision unable to process what the hell is going on especially during a active shooting but I am very grateful there are those that do act and do stop the danger.

If you really feel like your life might depend on you're being armed (and I can imaging that's the case given the 'clients' that might cross your path in a usually very accessible hospital setting), you might consider the Remington RM380. I recommend it because it's an excellent EDC pistol that's VERY small, pretty light and, based on the fact that I recently got mine with a red Crimson Trace laser for just $249.00 (including shipping) from Gunprime, very inexpensive (but definitely not 'cheap'). I know, it's 'only' a 380 S&W and not a 9mm, and it's 'only' 6+1, but it fits totally unnoticed (& unfelt) in my front pants pocket with its DeSantis Super Fly Pocket Holster w/Flap, and prints like a smartphone (so NOBODY will notice). You can contrast that to my slightly larger (& much heavier & costlier) 12+1 9mm Sig P365, which is far more noticeable (by me), & far less comfortable, in my pocket, and a little more noticeable by prying eyes. Like the saying goes, the best gun is the one that you carry. BTW-my RM380 is loaded with Remington Ultimate Defense Compact 380 ACP 102 GR JHP, which performed amazingly well in Luckygunner.com's gel tests, and leaves me quite comfortable that if needed it will do it's job if the time ever comes.

So many have this notion that their local law enforcement are all John Wick types and will roll in guns blazing. I bet a lot of you haven't had the misfortune of watching local PD pistol qualifications. Most officers are not "gun guys" and have little to no extra training compared to yourselves. Sure, some will be combat hardened badass men or women that train hard year round. But that doesn't mean that can't be you either. Take responsibility for your life and your own safety, get training, and get comfortable with a firearm and first aid. And if you aren't willing to do that, seek some training in first aid. These assholes pick soft places like bar fronts, walmarts, or festivals because they aren't looking for a fight. Find the confidence and seek the knowledge needed to make yourself your own first responder and if not for your sake, for your families.

I carry an H&K P30L in 9mm. Places shots on top of one another in close, and the long sight radius helps with longer shots if needed.

Loving this video & loving the comments. Very useful. I am a new conceal carry guy. I've had my ccdw for less than a year. I do practice my carry draw at home. I do practice longer distance shooting so I will be comfortable if needed to shoot those longer distances. It's good to hear someone else confirm that my choice to do so is not redundant. Thx for the video and thx for all the positive comments.

I'm a former LEO. I'm trained to respond to, and engage, dangerous situations. That aspect of my life hasn't changed. My EDC, as a civilian, is a stainless Kimber ProCarry II in 9mm, plus (2) spare magazines, for a total of (31) rounds. I regularly practice a combination of quick-reaction drills and accuracy drills at ranges from contact distance (speed rock), out to 100 yards.

What I really got from this, you weren't trying to be super fast on your draw. Having been in the fire myself. I tend to believe there is an over emphasis on the fast draw. Your draw was smooth and deliberate as was your reholster. Solid information 🎯

Wouldn’t be my first firefight... BUT it would be my first taking a pistol as my primary weapon. More often than not I expect to be outgunned. I too carry the P07 most of the time. 19X when I get too comfortable. Complacency kills!!! The others in rotation are what I call grocery getters.... also breaks me out of my comfort zone... gotta make a quick run out of the house and won’t be inside any location for more than 2 minutes. J frame .38, Ruger sp101, sig 365, or various .380s. What most need to understand there’s a time to fight, there’s a time to counter ambush, there’s a time to gtfo. That’s not something you learn punching paper or ringing steel. You might be accurate on the range but that doesn’t prepare you for a gunfight. Not everybody is cut out to be a hero on the evening news BUT everybody can defend themselves when the need arises If anybody takes anything away from this comment just remember.... complacency kills... being too comfortable will cost you your life. Trust your carry option but for god sake it’s gonna take more than carrying it to save yourself or those around you

My first firefight taught me to put out cover fire and get the fuck out of there. That's why I like 9mm, I can carry enough to keep someone from flanking or poking their head out and not worry about running out of ammo. Plus covert body armor can be bought, like 3A for $300. That's my go to. Side note, fuck New York. It's so militarized, and yet the gun laws are so strict. I just went to pay my respects on 9/11, and it was like I was in a war zone.

To all the “badass” people who think that they can stop a mass shooter just because they are good at the range I have a message for you-your shooting skills nor your gun type doesn’t mean shit unless your mind is programmed for this ,you can spend 20 years shooting but when facing a real life or death situation you can fuck up and die ,your heart rate is rising, your hands start to sweat ,you start to having problems with changing the mag properly or to reload and you are so stressed that you start to shooting rapidly everywhere which can result in unwanted casualties ,hell some people can even freeze ...all these things can happen to an unready person ,that’s why soldiers and other security personnel are trained to keep their cool even in extreme situations ,for example-when I served in the military the instructors were often shooting near us so we could get used to this and get off the shock state quicker ,when we were doing drills it was almost always with live ammo ,a trained soldier should be able to function properly with 130 heartbeats p minute ,there are many drills that do shock therapy each country develop their own ,my point is: if you are new to those kind of situations be humble ,aware and approach your target with extreme caution.

You have to factor in all the people who's jobs can be dangerous in a millisecond. There are those who have never been in a shoot out or combat but learned to perform under pressure because panicking wasn't an option. All of us Walter Mitty's may never have seen a shot in anger but we may decide we don't have a choice.

If you train muaythai, or any fighting sports, you can be xtremely proficient during padding, awesome moves and techniques, then you spar, then you hard spar and then fight in a ring and you kiss all those things goodbye the minute your opponent hit your face at full power. Training helped alot obviously, but the real thing will never be same as training. Pro fighters get so good because they fight, training will never be the same.

elias borsov We all have the advantage when facing a shooter and we have a gun... is all about staying calm and not rushing and being observant on if the shooter Is working by himself... and then moving in to get a shot from behind slowly while not getting noticed... can take 1 minute but you will surely kill the shooter and also aim to the body several times repeatedly then the head to leave no doubt ....

Great advice! Firearm manipulation should be a priority over accuracy for self defense training. It's obviously good to be as accurate as possible, but Id rather have a smooth draw and a larger grouping than the opposite.

Two things I hope someone reads: 1) There's no pistol vs rifle deficit when the rifle guy doesn't know there's a pistol guy about to shoot him. And so far, there're no "pistol guy radars" on ebay anyways. The first responder also has the advantage of picking the moment to act. 2) Mindset/State of Mind. You may have amazing training and hours of practice, but if you've never been in a critical situation, you may not know how you will react. Sadly, all I can say about this is that in my case, it came from experience. I was very much satisfied with the results, but must admit it has to be worst way of them all, so I'd check if there're other ways to learn these things about yourself at all. Other important things have already been said. Thanks for the video! and may you all have a great day.

Peole need to realize their cars are great weapons for certain situations. The El Paso punk started shooting in the parking lot. When I was younger someone opened fire on us. Note: the best place for cover is behind the engine block. Then behind a set of wheels. Bullets go through doors and windows. Unless you're in a Tesla Cybertuck. Then the entire body is bulletproof.

Steyr M9, 17-round magazines, about a 2:30 inside the waistband. I usually practice at 70 ft, I'm trying to aim small and miss small. I am very comfortable with the pistol, I've done a number of courses with it but I do feel like I need to run some more Dynamic, cardiovascular, difficult courses. The whole reason I chose a pistol as I did is because of the fear of a mass shooting or an unchallenged assailant. I want enough rounds to subdue the shooter or keep their head down until help arrives. As a result, I usually have 5 mags on hand, but only one with quick access, the others are in my bag.
