I don't think you mentioned this but another way to deal with some of these "Anxieties" is to join a guild. I felt I was on my own and "not getting it" but then I joined a guild and met some very nice people who explained things, got me into crafting and invited me on dungeons, quests, events, etc. It made a difference in my enjoyment of the game and I probably wouldn't be playing now if not for that. There are so many types of guilds and lots of friendly casual ones, so that is something to check out.

I'm loving your beginner series. I wish they had been there when I started a few years ago. That said, I did sit down and listen/watch several of those 2hr type beginner videos to get a feel for the game before I stepped in. I got my first character to lvl 30 and hit that bored wall. I just created a different character and started learning a new class. That refreshed my excitement for the game.

Spot on. Eso not having heavy and long vertical progression needs to be talked about more, it's one of the best thing about this game and I think more new people might be into the game if they understood it more :)

I don’t really remember the my first play through as it was six years ago. A friend who started ESO in January says that 1-50 can feel like a bit of a slog. If I’m playing regularly, always used to take a day out every week to just resource gather & craft etc. I find the change for one night a week really helps you get the crafting lines up to speed, money in the bank and it breaks up what could feel like a bit of a daily grind.

Just like any game, if you don't have any interest in the lore of the world or the stories being told questing won't be interesting. Speaking for myself, leveling never felt like a slog, because I enjoy the Elder Scrolls universe.

My necro hit cap and I thought the companion would be interesting enough to keep me interested. Not the first time I’ve been mistaken. Too much like lotro…and the idea of grinding to play dress up online. Just … not for me. Short life; glad you’re having a blast!

Hey Adam, Awsome Video once again keep it coming. I've still haven't quite found the way to what defines a midgame to an advanced player because although my cp is high my dps is not really and that bugs me. Recently I turned to creating a new toon a warden healer that will eventually be running your warden detonation build and I love healing almost more than I love to be a dps I find it fun. Thx again foe the video.

Dps is about practice and rotation. Gear is important but not as much as a good rota
@craigalbrechtson53642 жыл бұрын
One thing I did. I have a nord, stanima dragonknight. I had run through the main quest line and maxed out the arrow and two handed weapons skill lines. so to keep things interesting, I maxed out duel weld. now I'm working in 1 handed and shield. when that is done, I'll do destruction and restoration staff. but my wall is dps. I have tgood sets and some good combos, but I have problems getting above 22k dps
@chabil47672 жыл бұрын
I may have some suggestions that might help. If you're only getting 22k then you're probably not getting enough uptime on your spells. I mean the dots. Nox breath, poison claw thing. Our Focus is to get good uptime and not to use our spammable more. Now I don't exactly know if you stack crit on stam toons all my dps are mag bois but if you do then then I suggest aiming for at least 65-70% crit. It will automatically boost your damage significantly. I remember being stuck at 26k dps but when I optimised my crit my damage shot up to 50k ish. Another suggestion would be to learn to maintain resources. If you constantly have to heavy attack to get stam back then you end up losing damage. I use falsegods on my mag for that. Idk what's ideal for stam toons. Don't worry about the race. People will say nord is not ideal but your damage doesn't really change that much depending on race. Maybe like 2-3k at most.
@chabil47672 жыл бұрын
Also if you're on pc learn weaving. Get light attack helper. If you weave well your damage will shoot up again. If you do allll that right then you'll have 70-80k dps which is mooooore than enough for everything in the game
@phoenixtwolf2 жыл бұрын
one thing I am really big on is Enjoy your class and play around with it don't worry about the idea of meta (unless that is only what you going for) Like for me I been working on some ideas like right now with my Breton necro which was my first necromancer and I for a while was playing as take with stamina based attacks then switched to a Nord for that but now I am back on the Breton as a healer and an also experimenting with the Idea of a necro heal/tank with magic base skills now and using Winter's Respite as weapons and jewelry, so trying out things you feel mgiht work can be a way to fine a way to play a class you enjoy like I have seen an idea about heavy armor healer. So play for fun and don't let others force you to play something you not going to enjoy. Oh one big thing taking advice is good but do remember your you not them for example the Dragonknight form many sources is the easiest class and for me its the hardest and the hardest is necro which was easiest for me and I love and play 99% of the time now. So do know somting easy for others might be hard for you and hard for others easy for you.
@mattg61062 жыл бұрын
I jump in and out of ESO but the thing that resonated with me the most on this list is playing something you enjoy. I got interested in making a MagNecro Vampire, played it to level 41 and it felt terrible. Not in a 'this build sucks' sort of way but I wasn't having any fun with it. Once I completed the main quest in the zone I was in I made a few new characters with other classes to mess around with and liked literally all of them way more.

Love doing the quests and story quest lines, crafting, dungeons and trials. What I hit a wall with is boosting dps above 65K on a trial dummy on a parse. I've watched videos, followed builds, and weaved till my fingers are sore. My gear is good, all gold, not perfected, but that's what I'm trying to get . . I have no idea how players get 90+K parses. There's my wall.

I like running dungeons however it seems like so many tanks want to rush through and in many cases skips bosses just to get to the last one. I don't know if it's to get the weapon/gear drop or bonus XP/CP. In my opinion it takes away from other players.
@Rodneybow2 жыл бұрын
Usually it's for the xp. I always ask for a speed run unless they're low level.
@briankearney16192 жыл бұрын
If you go onto the Elder Scrolls forum this subject crops up every week. Some players want to rush through the dungeon because they want the daily reward and then they can use what game time they have to do other content and other players want to search every urn and bookcase. The player going slowly is just as bad as the player rushing it. If you choose to join a pug group then you have to accept the playstyle of the people in it. The obvious solution of course is to find like minded guild mates to run with. This is not the answer for everyone. I only play solo so I adjust to the group I end up with. If you run the same dungeon several times then you will get different ways of doing it.
@christinehede75782 жыл бұрын
@@briankearney1619 they need to have two seperate group finders. One for beginners the other for the speed runners.
@wayne24112 жыл бұрын
@@briankearney1619 I get the slow being a problem as well, but people don't even want to wait an extra 30 seconds to complete a quest. I've tried to run as a tank and get rushed by healers or even DPS. Seems like the only option is to run with people you know or deal with the same thing that has plagued WoW once LFG was introduced completely killing the social aspect of the MMO.
@briankearney16192 жыл бұрын
You are right of course. It's just that a random group really means random and there are so many points of view about this on the elder Scrolls forum but no one is right. I don't have any guild mates and do all my content solo so if I want to do dungeons I just accept whoever I get. I would prefer to go slow. So I have built a character that has four shields but does low dps and I now solo some of the dungeons. It takes a while. The problem is that the developers attach a daily reward to content that many players have run scores of time so they just want to rush through it. I don't know how many times I have run banished cells.
@christinehede75782 жыл бұрын
The most discouraging thing in eso is all the selfish dungeon speed runners that never ask nor care that it is your first time and you are trying to do the quests. Part of the problem is their selfishness and the other part is the unskippable cut scenes before you can talk to the npc.

Just back to the game again.. well said its exactly how did I felt in most parts.. and from my personal gaming.. I was never enjoying those level capings in every game... why every developer is afraid to give us some power for hard work,grind,bilds... I must mention Neverwinter here.. ( stopped because they to greedy) but its the only game.. you can enjoy your power.. its the only game feels that you actually are a fecking monster.. and i would still be playing.. but they changed grind to pay to win.. it wasn't for me.. but you did get the point:) and I did play other mmos for years . Ff14 wow... In eso I'm 597 cp now.. I have 2 best sets for warden dps.. watched all guids and build that cud I find.. I have more skill points then I need.. but my god.. some veteran dungeons... you feel like you are so week.. with my gear and build I should be flying true.. maybe even be able solo it.. and thats is exactly why lot of people quit.. Best gear,lot of hours,know mechanics and if you have another bad dps in vet dungeon you screwed... whole team dead... that's not right;) you have to reward players for their work;)

I made the mistake of trying to play like Skyrim when I first started. Had the idea that I’d be a stealth archer. Boy, that didn’t last long! Stealth is a totally different thing in an MMO. As long as you’re enjoying it, I doubt you’re levelling too fast as you’re not grinding. Just do what you want and you’ll find it will work to you.

I mean, everyone's pace is different, I joined ESO for the PVP. So I got to 160cp as fast as I could. Then just pvp, now all my IRL friends kind of moved on now I've actually been enjoying the quests and other PVE content, ahhhmazing. I would suggest getting into crafting though. It makes you a ton of money and is extremely helpful.

as a vet of beta vintage, "if you hit a wall"... upgrade gear... thats about all it tends to take, i have crafted countless sets and sent them out to people "just because", a 2 fullset bonus set in green can last 15-20 levels, blue 25 before you start to feel like you really need to upgrade, takes about 3 sets of leveling gear to get a new char to 50, then you just gotta decide what your "final form" ideal sets are and get those crafted/as drops, upgrade quality as high as you can... honestly... if you ask in global often people will craft you a set of leveling gear in trade for the mats you collect as you level, since those are still a PITA to farm for crafting lower level gear with a high level main(my crafters also my main...), for crafting you a set of leveling gear... personally i always go with heavy armor, training on all gear till skills are maxxed or near, bank the leveling gear and make another character to use it on, or as a "hold it till i want to level another char" mule. also, i recommend everybody work up resto staff... you can tank shit using the staff solo that you cant any other way... also, being able to play off healer... well if everybody in a group has resto as alt, you can just spam your way threw most dungeons as people swap back and forth between attack and recovery... even just 2 people doing this can make a world boss quite easy to deal with... oh..ALWAYS EAT.. again if you ask in global, often people will just toss you crafted foods, but, WORK UP COOKING, its worth it, the fact is depending on play style and build, some people prefer drinks for higher regen, some foods for higher base stats... some do a mix... "did you forget to eat" isnt just a monster hunter thing... ESO had people asking eachother that far earlier LOL and, i been slow leveling a necro lately, fun stuff..

The game doesn’t scale to you, you scale to it. So everything scales to 160, but as you level, the game removes some of your buffs, and skills and gear is supposed to fight that. Which is why when you pass level 160, you start to see your power grow (against ransoms, not dlc bosses which are made to fight endgame)

So you are saying leveling through desert dolemans and the dungeon finder is not a good thing to do for 50 levels lol?
@TinoBurkhalter2 жыл бұрын
on a first toon, its not a good way... btw. dolmens are not that good xp compared to mob grinding like spellscar / skyreach... but thats not the point... the point is, if you are on your first toon you will need a lot of skillpoints. the skillpoints just by leveling to 50 won't be enough at all... so while you can rush to 50, you still have to do a lot of questing, etc. to gather all those skillpoints you will need... while you could just take your time leveling and actually do mainquest/zone main quests etc. which will yield you skillpoints.... The first toon is the hardest, because usually it will be your main where you also leveling crafting etc. As soon as you are able to craft etc. you can speed up things a lot on alt chars...
@Behindthejab2 жыл бұрын
@@TinoBurkhalter I mean dolmens you can do while watching a show and in a dungeon queue and make sure you can have 50 jewelry crafting by the time you hit 50. Grinding dungeons gives you a skill point for each new dungeon from the quest as well and it is way faster to sky shard farm and zone quest when you are 160cp with a build
