Mint and limes are not the same in Cuba… and they use « white » (raffiné) sugar cane. I like to use pepper mint and « Agricole » white rhum from French Caribbean. Stronger taste of cane, dryer. If made with Cuban Ron I will add few dashes of Angostura bitter. Regarding sugar cane, sirup is more diluabke but I always add sugar cane flakes cause people love to have crunchy in mouth. I really like your video Vlad ! You are the best on KZbin Cocktails by far !!!

Moroccan wild mint or water lily mint are also good build-ups for mojitos. Moroccan is very strong herbaceous with a complex flavour pallet and brings in some diversity. Waterlily mint gives it a more light note, but not for the downside of flavour. I would recommend that in twist for Asian or tiki/ exotic mojito specials.

hey vlad, i was wondering, since the 'fruity' mint varieties aren't as strong, and don't hint much towards their fruit flavous, would you be able to get something nice out of it by increasing the amount of mint you use? or would that end up ruining the drink?

It would be more expensive too. Just not necessary. I prefer to use fresh fruits or quality syrups to add flavors. Mojito mint and Spearmint are 🔝

Is there some rules to follow to choose the soda water / sparkling water you are supposed to use for the mojito ? A friend of mine made mojito with sparkling water which got a strong mineral taste and it was disgusting.

for mojito i use regular organic mint lime i typically slap the leaves and muddle whit lime chunks add cane sugar alot! mix then add bacardi and then sprite/lemon drink or just soda water also add a shit ton of ice then forget about trying to make it pretty we at home babyyyyy

I always use chocolate Mint because it tastes like "after aight" and is the most intense. For orange mint, I've to say it tastes like a combination of mint and basil. No idea why they call it orange.😅

I bought mojito mint in an attempt to next level my cocktails but I found the flavour to be quite bitter and almost like tobacco. This is probably why Cuban mojitos use smaller sweeter key limes than the normal Mexican limes.
