Also, if you’ve invested in fabrics for a room, like a beautiful comforter for your bedroom you plan on keeping for years or expensive accent pillows, pick the wall color that either matches or is a great complimentary tone that works with the fabric tones. I have done this a lot in the past. I’ve found a beautiful investment fabric for a room and matched one of the colors in the fabric and used the paint chip cards to either go lighter, darker or the same color in that tone. Nothing worse than painting and then trying to find fabric to match the paint tone. Or you paint and then have to reject the fabric piece you’ve been saving for only to find out your new fabric looks “off” next to your paint. Bring your fabric with you to the paint store! I do it all the time 😁

Yes. I believe that was Benjamin Moore who started that. Bring your fabric, pillow, whatever. They will match it for you.

I did a Night school in a day course years ago and this was their advice as well. Start with the fabric choice. Or in your living room, your couch and throw pillows.

We're all in the same boat with paint. Ha. I've made mistakes. Once with Pink, yrs ago. Looked like a big piece of bubble gum. Now for my kitchen. I have some black accent walls. Love the look! But, although the same paint, on one of them, it appears a blue black. Sometimes you can't fool mother nature's lighting. It will prove us all differently! So, I deal with it 🥰 One hint for all. I watch someone who are in a big business with creating/selling beautiful homes. Chantilly Lace is the white paint they use in all of there homes.

One thing that I did was pay attention to the overall colour as especially if you're not living in USA the paint swatch colours with not necessarily be available but if alot of the colours you like are a specific colour like sandstone for instance it could help you find that same shade available in your country. Also if you are doing a ombre look with your trim and or doors to match your walls then remember you can use the same colour for your walls but made in half strength so its less pigment but the same tone that compliments the space nicely. Also if you're going for a cosy feel but calm as well you could use a slightly darker tone of the same shade on say your door or your buit in bookshelf to add texture and add the extra cosy feeling.

Totally off topic, hoping you don’t mind. I don’t know where you are in proximity of Niagara but thought you may have some input/information. My granddaughter has a soccer tournament there this summer, July. I am wondering if you have any suggestions on what to do, a must. Things to see, do and/or eat. I understand if you don’t reply but I’m hopeful. 😉 Love your channel. Love your content and personality. 😊

More often than not it is the paint finish and not the colour which is wrong. I know in North America (US & Canada) people tend to use a finish for their walls which is slightly shiny. Shows all the bumps an lumps. In Europe it is more the norm to use flat or mat paint for walls and ceilings.

My favourite interior wall paint finish is eggshell. It only has a slight sheen. I find that ultra matte paint is (usually) too difficult to clean in higher use areas.
