This episode really hit home with me! I have definitely struggled with using social media too much in the past. I recently started asking myself when I'd just be mindlessly scrolling through Instagram "Why am I doing this?" and "What good does this serve?" which has really opened my eyes recently. Life is so much more than just a screen so it is very important to get away and not always cloud our minds with social media. I think using KZbin, TV shows, or even Instagram (etc.) for entertainment can be great in moderation but we must be careful to not let it completely take over our minds. I really think the key is just to know that your time is valuable and there are better ways to spend it than being on social media. Great episode!

Yep..I had that same or similar type revelation about fantasy sports. I set my lineups one more time and deleted all the apps right before my first child was born a couple months ago! Haven't looked back don't plan to. Too much time on stuff that just doesn't matter! God bless!

Another awesome episode. What Derek touched on about replacing the negative habits with something positive is really helpful in breaking free. Leaving an empty void will most likely fill itself with something similar (or worse) unless we purposely fill it with something better. For me, I went through a period where I "fasted" KZbin completely as it was becoming too easy to waste time going down the rabbit hole. I chose to instead fill that time reading edifying books or having real conversations. Once I felt I could maintain balance, I starting using KZbin again but in more measured increments. I think it's important to note that there's not a point where we become "immune" to the things that pull us in, but we can put up guardrails to keep ourselves from ending up in the ditch again. This is a great podcast guys, really appreciate all of the insights and that you bring these things into the light. Thank you.

The act of not being anxious for anything as Paul says in verse 8 is made possible by his command just a few verses earlier. He says rejoice in the Lord always. And again I say rejoice. He repeats himself to stress the importance of it. He even makes the statement earlier in the letter. If we can do this, everything Paul explains later regarding anxiety and our thoughts will be possible. In the Lord there is ALWAYS something to rejoice about!
