I absolutely adore this performance. I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Story behind it: It was recorded in 1989. Freddie and Montserrat were good friends )Freddie had always enjoyed classical music and dreamed of singing something like this). She approached him with this song, intending to sing it at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. But he had already been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS (the diagnosis had not made it public yet) and told her that he probably not be alive then. So they went ahead and released the song. And I’m so glad we did- what a shame it would have been to never have heard this masterpiece.

Freddie was an opera fan and saw Montserrat while watching opera in London and loved her singing. Freddie wrote this and a whole album for them. They recorded it at Freddies house in London.

That was Mike Moran (who co-wrote the song with Freddie) conducting with the light sabre. I love this performance. It was a dream come true for Freddie to sing with Montserrat. They loved one another so much.

Freddie was so chuffed that Montsy agreed to sing with him, he loved Opera & couldn't wait to dip his toe in that genre (didn't he do an amazing bloody job of it!) oh lordy he's sooo missed, these 2 are singing together still I'm sure. ❤

Thanks! Please see my suggestion below about seeing something else from this operetta. If you know Bohemian Rhapsody now, you also know that opera was ingrained in him. May I be your queen sensei? I'll give you a coffee a day if you go down the rabbit hole with me. How about it?

Watch The Golden boy from the same opereretta. Montsy was his best friend and you did say it perfectly, but she is Catalán and not Spanish. There is a big difference. Just ask anybody from Barcelona. Was I the one who suggested this? Lol I have no idea. My memory is playing tricks on me and I don't like it. Getting old sucks.

She is spanish and she was very proud ,what nonsense are you saying ask her before saying stupidities,

80's and 90's had creative geniuses. Prince, MJ, Tina Turner, Freddie, Mercury and Madonna at her peak. Music was better, as they didn't have technology to enhance their voices either. Too much woke BS has intoxicated music these days.
