Our family has a lot of summer birthdays. We always have reasons to make cards, all year, here. Sometimes, just to say Hi!, thinking of you, etc. But, yes, summer may be a good time to start Christmas cards, too.

Never too early to make Christmas cards!! Beautiful cards, great inspiration. And a great tip from another card maker on KZbin is using “press and seal” kitchen wrap. I started using that and I really like it. Thank you for a great tutorial 👍

Unlike Charlie Brown, I don’t do well under pressure😆. I have small 3 ring binders with plastic page protectors. I have a pocket for each birthday & special occasion & each one has at least one card in it. Once I take the last card out, I make a new one for the next year.

I start making mine in June. This year, because of the pandemic, I mailed out “Christmas in July” cards to brighten the day for the recipients. Everyone was surprised and loved them. I so enjoy writing...I always run out of space before I run out of words! I also buy the happiest postage stamps I can find. The staff at my Post Office start bringing out their stamp designs when they see me coming.

OMG,this comment made me giggle. If you hate it I'm surprised you kept it. But I also think it's great that you want to give it another try. If you're having trouble with it cutting properly, try positioning it on your cutting plate on a bit of a tilt so one corner of the die goes in first. That often makes a difference. I hope you end up enjoying it! And thank you so much for watching!

Ardyth, I have so many different dives to make stained glass cards, haven’t made a one yet. However, you got the fire burning, that card was thr most vibrant stained glass card I’d ever seen. Extremely well done. You sure are a talented woman.Tysm., where did you purchase the graphite foil paper?, I’ve looked in the description box, didn’t see it.
@ardyth
@ardyth Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for your kind words - I agree that the graphite foil paper really helps the stained glass look - I have found it in a pack from Concord & 9th (Formal Foils, I believe it's called) and also in a pack of various gray specialty cardstock from Sizzix. I would also take a look at a local store to see if they have something similar. Thanks so much for watching!

I start making Christmas cards right after end of Oct, (due to finishing up outside house repairs/yardwork). I might have to start earlier next year! I like the idea of using Swiffer cloths better, anyway, to use for this trick.☺️ Some folks (like myself) are allergic to dryer sheets, and the scent may linger on the card pieces, enough to trigger someone's allergies. It would be a shame to receive a beautiful card, and not be able to display it. As far as I know, (I hope!) dusting cloths don't have any scents. 😊

Could I offer a suggestion? Running the die through with an embossing pad underneath would give you the outline area to ink blend, before cutting with regular plates. Then you wouldn't have to fuss with inking pieces. Lovely cards.

I usually start mine in October after a local stamp show. Since covid , most shows for the year have been canceled. I have been playing with stuff I already have. The bad part of me starting my cards this early is, I don't want to give them away. Also, its been in the 90s and already had a hurricane. Not feeling xmasy yet. Thanks for sharing this. Not too early at all to make beautiful Christmas cards! I tend to start with Christmas in July, but I am still creating cards for all the graduates I know from this year, so I'll be starting in September sometime.

I usually don’t make my own personal Christmas cards until closer to the end of the year - I like to make sure they reflect my “mood” and if I do them too early I change my mind. But I make holiday cards for donations throughout the year.

August is a great time to start making Christmas cards! It is no fun for me to be under pressure with a deadline. Getting Christmas cards made early is a much better way to go IMHO.

This is what i do... i turn the cut out die onto an "older" matt from my Cameo you can pop them out and they will stay til you pick them up. I have some really cool quilt dies and for them to look realistic you need to cut the same die out of multiple colors/pattern paper.

I save my USED dryer sheets and then take them all to the craft area. I then always have a supply of dryer sheets to use for my die cutting and am recycling at the same time. The used ones work great.

😂🤣😂🤣 I didn’t join Christmas in July, but I DID pull out all my fall, winter and holiday papers yesterday. 😃 I was wondering the same thing.💙 Thanks for the trick about folding card stock to get multiple layers BEFORE die cut. 🤦🏽‍♀️😂

Oh, that's a good hack that I got from another cardmaking friend. Just don't use cardstock that is too thick. I find 80lb is about the max before the edges of the dies cuts are less clean. But if I do that twice, I get 4 layers of 80lb cardstock for my die cut and it's nice and sturdy! Thanks for dropping by!
