Wow! Wow! Wow! This was an amazing & thoughtful discussion I’ve heard in a long time. As an half Asian American 60 yr. old woman , I can relate and understand her struggles. Women are strong and resilient. Miyoko has surrounded herself with love of family & friends that will help her to succeed and overcome obstacles that may come her way. Thank you for sharing your love & passion of food, people, animals & our world!

I can't believe I missed this interview from a year ago. I just watched it, amazing. Such an emotional conversation. Thank you Joanne. 🙏 Miyoko is truly a hero for me. I started watching her PBS cooking show in the early 2000s when there were no vegan cooking shows on the food network.. I remember learning how to make vegan soy yogurt from Miyoko's PBS show by using a little bit of soy yogurt with soy milk and setting it outside on a warm day to culture. It worked and I was thrilled! That's the same time I bought Miyoko's cookbook the Now & Zen Epicure. Miyoko changed the way I thought about cooking. Using the same ingredients to make a meal but swapping out any animal based ingredients. 20 years later since her PBS cooking show she's still paving the way for female entrepreneurs with a big picture vision that includes animal activism and environmentalism. I'm truly grateful to both of you.❤

12:56 So we know that plant based dieting existed around the world for a long time, but did the actual conception of 'veganism' as an animal rights philosophy about avoiding the exploitating of animals in any way as much as practical for food, clothing, cosmetics, entertainment, etc. exist in these eras too? I guess Jainism can be an example of someone who incidentally lives a vegan lifestyle.

I started following her when cóvid hit and she was doing her shows from her kitchen. Miyoko is the epitome of strength, resiliency and spirituality!
