Great video! I always think ‘If you don’t like it than my art is not for you’ but for one hater I usually see multiple lovers of it. I paint for myself, not to please the world.

What a precious video and thoughts! I'm a self-taught artist, and I believe that the lack of any diploma or "professional" feedback is the biggest obstacle for many of us. I've stored more than 40 finished paintings in my attic, keeping them hidden in darkness there by just the fear you've been talking about... But maybe now I'll be brave and show them to the world. Danielle thank you so much for bringing this up. I have recently picked up the brushes again after a very long time and have been concentrating on learning how to paint and draw properly. My family and friends are excited to see what I do next especially my partner. I have immense support from him. As I have been painting, every time I paint, this is the question that goes through my mind. And I find at times I have repeated the same picture over and over again until I feel it's right. However, another thing I am experiencing that I don't understand is, I may do a painting that I feel is rushed and not right and the colours aren't great, however people like that one more than the one I did produce that I think is better. And the paintings I think will be a hit are received with an "it's nice". I just don't get it. Does that mean I should paint "crap" and it will be appreciated more? I am so confused. Have you experienced this? Yours truly "I am so confused". *laughs*
