I’ve never sleepwalked before, but my sister has. One time I was sitting on the couch late at night, just watching TV, and my sister comes in the room. Her eyes were open, she just looked sleepy, but not asleep. I said, “uh hi Lilly” or something like that, and she strolled up to the TV, clicked the off button, and fell asleep on the other couch. I yelled, “hey I was watching that!” But she was OUT and thought she dreamed it the next morning. She sleep talks too. She once sat bolt right in bed when we shared a room and yelled, “I AM THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!” and flopped down and fell asleep again. Apparently she was watching a political show at the time and she was dreaming about it. Sleepwalkers and sleeptalkers are also funny as hell.

That's actually a real psychological sleep disorder, night terrors. Not the ghost-y version, but it's really the feeling of pure emotional stimulus after waking up (or you wake up with any EXTREME emotional turmoil). There's no nightmares associated with this, no imaging. It's just the emotions (can be horror but can also be sadness, or any other 'negative' feelings) It's terrifying for the people around the person experiencing it, but the person doesn't remember anything.

This one was eerily relatable for me. My ex boyfriend was a sleepwalker and would constantly have these types of moments. One time he woke up in the middle of the night, jumped on the bed and looked towards me screaming "demon!" its funny now, but freaked me out at the time because he was serious about it. Now I wonder if he was actually looking at me or looking at something behind me. Another time he woke up outside of his front door, standing on the porch looking towards the street. when he looked at his hands, there was blood - apparently he was from digging his finger nails into the palms of his hands. Though when it came to his sleepwalking I would always tell him about it and I would also tell all our friends and family too. lol his family would say they experienced similar things from him.

He then walked down the stairs and I asked again «where are you going?» and I didn’t Get a clear answer, but I can remember he said something like «i’m gonna sleep with mom and dad». He has done this multiple times when he walks down to sleep with mom and dad, and one time we even found him in the bathtub sleeping haha. For those specifying that it wasn't Tim Burton, yes, it was not Tim Burton, but, the people who worked on it, at least one of them is kind of known for having worked with Burton a lot, so it's expected that there was probably Burton influences. Also the music was made by the same person. So there are enough similarities, that a Burton stan such as myself even excuses the misunderstanding. Plus Coraline was my favourite movie from like age 9 to present day, at 17, so like, mood. My first thought with snowglobe was "oh no, not the Coraline snowglobe scene lmao. I can like watch the whole movie scene for scene in my head, I've watched that movie so much. Love it. So yeah, common mistake, partially due to there likely being influences, and Danny Elfman working on music, which Burton always has him on music/sound in his movies, so it's just a lot of similar stuff.

It’s something most people don’t think much of, but like the concept of skinwalkers and not deer, it’s an abnomality that humans will fixate on. If it doesn’t look normal, if it doesn’t act normal, then it must not be human. Also, the fear levels change depending on the time of night. If it’s 3 am and your significant other is standing in a corner, head hitting the wall, your fight or flight is going to trigger in stronger ways. When it’s dark, our instincts go into high alert, watching for predators and other dangers. That’s why when you get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom or get a drink of water you avoid mirrors or windows. Sometimes the reflections aren’t quite right, sometimes they distort images depending on the low light frequencies. Sometimes you think there’s something watching you, even if you’re ten stories up.
@shardascarapace98113 жыл бұрын
When I was a kid, I shared a room with my little sister. She was about four or five when we started and had a habit of sleepwalking. It wasn’t too weird, some of my other brothers had the same experiences when they were that age. My family chocked it up to them having too much energy before bed and their little bodies just couldn’t handle it. I’ve never been able to sleep heavily, due to having a lot of little kids in my house that were very active late at night. They’d get up out of bed and come sit or try to get out of the house and play in the yard at four in the morning. I’d trained myself to wake up whenever the beds creaked, so I was always aware of the slightest sound. This time was different. My oldest sister had been away at summer camp for the week, so I had taken over her bed on the bottom bunk, and my baby sister was on the top. The bed frame was metal, so every time you got out of bed there would be creaking and metallic gong sounds. I remember that I was afraid in my sleep that night. Normally I face the room, since the window on the other side was at ground level and anyone could look in, I avoided it. I sleep on my side typically. That night though, I was facing the window. And there was a terrible, Horrid feeling I had that was pounding in my ears and I didn’t know why. My brain hadn’t caught up yet I guess. When I had the courage to pull away the blankets from over my head, I saw a reflection in the window pane. My little sister, Eyes wide open, Standing on the side of the bed I usually face, Staring at me. She usually wore a princess dress that we couldn’t get her to take off to even wash most of the time, so it was weird that she was just in her pull-up. Her hair was sweaty and strung out and sticking to her face like she’d woken up hard, like she’d been in a deep sleep. But her expression was terrifying. Almost bloodshot, her little face almost couldn’t hold how big her eyes looked, and when her sleep self realized I had noticed her existence she smiled Naturally I freaked out and smacked her to the floor where she woke up and started crying. 😂😅 and I was like “baby, what were you doing out of bed?” And she told me, “Sissy.. I was sleepy and you woke me up 😡” So I put her in a fresh pull-up and changed the sheets and washed her face, put her hair back in a lil bun and put her in bed next to me. She’s almost fourteen now and doesn’t remember anything but yeah. I was terrified. That’s the main reason I don’t like windows at night lol. The other story about my little brother sleepwalking is that he had to pee so my older brother tried to take him downstairs to the bathroom (we only had one and it was on the ground floor) and he thought he was there already so he peed on the stairs 😂😂

@@shardascarapace9811 Bro, the one with your sister is terrifying. For how jumpy I am, I sure as hell would have a heart attack if someone standing over me smiled after I noticed them. The one with your brother is chill AF though. Who cleaned the stairs afterwards? 🤣

@aliceb174 жыл бұрын
My (fabricated) conclusion was this: The sudden onset of sleepwalking was an early warning sign that something was going wrong with his brain. He must have not locked the doors (not really taking his BF seriously), gotten out, and woken up in a fugue state. As he had left the apartment, he had no cues as to his previous life. He likely either created a new identity, or checked into a hospital somewhere who missed the alert out for him as a missing person and was never identified and started again as a new person.

@@aliceb17 Oof. I thought he sleepwalked out of the apartment, got hit by a car/mugged/walked into the woods and got lost or something and died. your version is better though
@aliceb174 жыл бұрын
@@Flanneryschickens I thought about that, but they never found a body, despite checking hospitals and morgues. Although if he got lost in the woods that could be plausible...

When my mother was in college, she used to share an apartment with three friends. One of them, Socorro, often had sleepwaking episodes. Most were kinda funny, but some were freaky. Like trying to open a window (they lived on the 3th floor) or standing still beside someone's bed (Paranormal Activity style). There was one particularly scary episode. The place they lived in was in a bad neighborhood, and because of that, Socorro's boyfriend decided to bring a gun over for the girls to keep. At first, he put it inside the wardrobe, in the room Socorro shared with my mother. Then Socorro joked, "You guys better hide it somewhere else, just in case I try to get my hands on it in the middle of the night". Everyone laughed, but they decided to move the gun to another room. That same night, my mother woke up to persistent noise. She sat up and saw Socorro rummaging through the wardrobe, throwing all the clothes on the floor, looking for the gun. My mother told me she almost pissed herself right there. The gun was taken away from the apartment the very next day.

I slept walked a few times when I was younger, I think it was mostly when my dad had gone on a longer business trip and that messed w my child brain psychologically. It mostly consisted of me trying to go down stairs a bunch or just wandering around, the funny thing is I was half awake sometimes so I remember some of them. One of the highlights is when my mom was trying to put me back to bed and I protested by saying "all my friends are allowed to go down stairs!" as if that was any kind of rational argument.

8:33 Wakeking them up like that could be very dangerous. Since they've been sleeping if you wake them up, even if you do it gently, they could be very disoriented and frightened and not even realize who you are and act violently.
@calliope720 Жыл бұрын
This is a complete myth. A sleepwalking person is a much greater harm to themself and others while sleepwalking than when they are woken up. Sleepwalking people, most of the time, are groggy and confused upon waking up, not terrified or violent. Medical professionals advise waking up sleepwalkers to stop them from accidentally coming to harm.
