Smm1 really was so much more whimsical than smm2. Smm2 would never make you shake a muncher for an hour until little flies pop out so you have to tap on the fly to start the mario paint fly swatting mini game and then you have to swat all the flies so the big robot alien fly comes out and you have to swat it a million times or else it's back to square one buckaroo but if you triumph you get to unlock skinny mario which is much like mario from the video game except he is far skinnier, and it is so much worse because of that

@@mack4691 Oh, you're right! Though by pure coincidence, Simple's idea that it was supposed to be 0 does also work, thanks to the magic of ambiguous division. Intended equation: 6 / (2*(1+2)) + [?] + 5 = 20 keys Equation as Mr Flips understood it: (6/2) * (1+2) + 0 + 5 = [?] [?] = 14 for both, which is pretty neat In actual math you'd write the division as a fraction to avoid the ambiguity.

That math was extremely confusing, but I believe it's intended to be 6 / 2 (1 + 2) + X + 5 = 20 which would give X =14. Dunno why they made you count the 20 keys instead of just writing 20 lol.

@@retzky To be entirely fair, the construct of x/y(z) in stupid viral math problems has shown that people believe differently about that. The construction of 6/2(3) is ambiguous whether it's to be analyzed as (6)/(2*3) or (6/2)*(3), both of which yield very different answers (and depending on the education system you grew up in). Most British people tend to read it as (6)/(2*3) since implicit multiplication implies the denominator is the quantity (2*3). Conversely Americans tend to be taught to view operations more linearly and will consider groupings of division or multiplication in a left-to-right sequence, viewing implicit multiplication as nothing more than multiplication, treating it as (6/2)*(3) since that's how its read left-to-right. Neither one is really more correct than the other (I'm American so I'd view the latter interpretation as more likely but who knows). In actual practice nobody would use such poor notation, and divisor quantities would be much more explicitly separated out. the problem is that constructions like this are blatantly ambiguous and the correct answer is whatever the hell you want it to be since this level is doubly ambiguous because we can't even figure out if that's supposed to be a 0 or an X.

@@retzky No, the use of the ‘/‘ operator rather than the obelus implies this is a fraction so the whole fraction part would simplify to 1. The confusion I think comes from the viral problems that mix the use of the obelus, or division symbol taught in elementary school with the distribution representation of multiplication. When the slash is used, it is meant to imply a fraction bar though.

doing the math, it appears that the answer in the stage is wrong 6 / 2 (1 + 2) + [?] + 5 = 20 (the amount of keys in the box) starting with the parentheses, 1 + 2 = 3. after this is where the problem starts the uploader first multiplied 2 x 3 = 6, then divided 6 by that, which equals 1 1 + [?] + 5 = 20, so [?] = 14 multiplication and division are supposed to be done from left to right 6 / 2 = 3, and 3 x 3 = 9 9 + [?] + 5 = 20, so [?] = 6 you were correct at 2:45

mario maker 1 levels with current simpleflips are a crazy idea, like ive always been a big fan but ive always felt that around late 2019/early 2020 you really hit your prime with your humor and generally appeared as a lot more comfortable being funny when recording/streaming, but all of that was after mario maker 2 came out and as good as it is, that game is far more patched and streamlined, which just gives the first one a lot more potential to make funny content with

Mario Maker 2 really is missing key features. The big day/night thing being completely absent from 3D world, tons of items locked to 3D, items shown to you in the story mode (Stone Block) are incredibly useful and can make carry item stages where you don't accidentally throw the Pow or land on the P-Switch. There used to be a glitch that you could use to get day/night but now it auto-deletes even levels you don't upload.
