My number one issue is with time. I really like how my work looks but I wish I could do it in half the time. I’m trying new nail bits to see what helps but my prep alone is 30 minutes 😞 Hopefully it will happen soon but I can’t imagine right now how that process will happen.

I agree, I’m happy with the out come. I just don’t see how I can shave any more time off. I’m working efficiently. But my nails really last so I’m scared to change to much.

I think it’s about desire and dedication. Athletes train so much to shave off a tenth of a second. Lots and lots of practice leads to small improvements in time. I aim for‘practice makes better” to aim for perfect too soon is discouraging. Keep Going and we’ll get there. ❤️

Thanks so much for this! Practicing nails during covid in Canada has been so isolating. I listen to your podcast while I practice and sometimes it makes me cry with relief because the challenges I struggle to overcome are being acknowledged. That makes me feel like I’m not failing, I’m just climbing the massive learning curve 🌞

I find that rewatching YN videos helps. Rewatching a lot. Like an insane amount. 😂 and of course, practicing. In cosmetology school, one of my professors told us that we would have a moment where things click. I’ve had many of those moments over and over. With each new set, something else clicks. One of my recent clicks: “so THIS is what Greg means when he says you need to maintain contact with the entire side wall.” It fixed my square shaping completely. Something so simple that I had heard him teach so many times finally CLICKED.

I’m having problems too. It takes 4 hrs to do not including art. I get discouraged from being tired sitting there too long then they pop off in a week. That’s really discouraging from doing all that work & I do my prep right. Also my non dominant hand. It is hard & sloppy. Luv u guys & ur videos r great & really helpful. Also ur product r great. Could u also try to have sales around the first. I get paid once a month & no money at end of month & miss sales. Thanks keep helping beginners.

like everything in life, practice is the key, the more you do it, the better you get.I've been doing my own nails for about 1 1/2 years now and I have gotten so much better, my nails would easily hold for 4 even 5 weeks, but since it's become my hobby, I usually do them after 3 weeks, sometimes 2 if I wanna change the color. I've come to the conclusion that a good nail prep and quality products are the key to awesome nails. and yes, it does take me 3 hours but it's a part of my sunday ritual. I make myself a nice pot of tea, put on some relaxing music, prepare everything and then it's really like a diy spa day. don't do your nails if you don't really feel like it but have the feeling you must, cause then you try to hurry up and get sloppy. enjoy making them and enjoy the result!

I think you should also send this video to anyone who claims that KZbin tutorials ruin their salon business. I started doing my own nails about a year ago and only now have I finally reached a point where they reliably stay on for 2+ weeks and don't look terrible anymore. And I still struggle with cuticle flooding on my dominant hand and take several hours for a fill. Nails have a really steep learning curve.

I have been licensed since 1983. In the salon banging out enhancements. Pedicures. Manicures. And yes. I still struggle. Every day we learn something new. New nail art. New equipment. New product. New technique. CLIENTS! It's a struggle. It's a learning curve. It's fluid. Ever changing industry. But when you master something it feels good in your soul. Know as each little hurtle comes, each curveball that is thrown at you, it will get better. You will get better. The situation or challenge will get better. Remember this is a love of my business profession. Most of us make med or ok money. But I wouldn't trade it for a white collar job no matter the money promise.

I struggle getting shapes down, application, and getting the acrylic flush with the cuticle. I do practice, but I know I should practice way more… sometimes even if I think I have it, I often doubt myself which is a struggle all it’s own. I start school in October and so far I’ve practice for a year just to get an idea of what I can do and what I can’t with the basic nail knowledge that you all have given us all. I’ll always be grateful for you guy’s videos/tutorials because you all help me not only learn but to believe in myself ❤️
