This is too good. I'm glad to find this channel. You guys are doing a great job. Not only you're providing such useful content, but also clearing everyone's doubts in the comment box. And don't consider those negative comments. There's no logic in saying "I don't like this quiz," educational contents are always useful as long as they're accurate. Many people stumble in basic English even if they're good at it. So it will help them to realise those minor details. Very impressive!!! Keep It Up :)

11/15!! I've got some questions about this quiz: 1.In the question number , what's the difference among the three verbs "hazarding", "giving" and "trying"? 2 In the question number two what's the difference among the three nouns. I didn't catch that :( 3.In question number 9, what is the difference among the three phrasal verbs there? I didn't catch that as well :( 4:In question number 12, the answer is "held in high steem", is this always like this? I mean we always need to use "held in high steem"? 5. The question number 15 I couldn't understand it, and I got it wrong :( I would really apprecaite if you could answer this questions for me. It was a tough quiz but I think I could have done it better Thank you so much for making this quiz !! It is always apprecaite it

I don't know the exact number. I'm only ________ a guess. a) hazarding b) giving c) trying The correct option is "a) hazarding." The sentence would be: "I don't know the exact number. I'm only hazarding a guess." "to hazard" means making a guess or estimation, especially when uncertain or lacking precise information. It conveys the idea that the person is making an educated guess based on limited knowledge or evidence.

Question number 2 I like that place. As a matter of fact, I'm going there ________ night. a) today b) yesterday c) tomorrow The correct option is "c) tomorrow." The sentence would be: "I like that place. As a matter of fact, I'm going there tomorrow night." a) "today" - This option means the current day. However, since the person is saying they are going there "tonight," it wouldn't make sense to use "today" in this context. It implies that the person is already there or has already been there earlier in the day. b) "yesterday" - This option refers to the day before the current day. Again, since the person is saying they are going there "tonight," using "yesterday" would be incorrect. It suggests that the person went there the night before. c) "tomorrow" - This option means the day following the current day. Since the person is mentioning going there "tomorrow night," using "tomorrow" is appropriate. It indicates that the person plans to go to that place on the upcoming night, which is after the current day.

Question 9 I put some posters _____ on the wall to make the room to look less bare. a) over b) up c) cross The correct option is "b) up." The sentence would be: "I put some posters up on the wall to make the room look less bare." "Put up" is a phrasal verb that means to hang or attach something in an elevated position, such as on a wall. In this context, it means the person placed the posters on the wall to improve the appearance of the room. Here are explanations for the other options: a) "over" - This option implies placing the posters on top of something or covering something with the posters. However, in the given sentence, the intention is to hang the posters on the wall rather than place them on top of something. c) "cross" - This option doesn't fit the context of the sentence. "Cross" means to go from one side to another or to intersect. It doesn't convey the action of putting something on the wall.

Question 12 He has always been _____ in high esteem by colleagues. a) taken b) held c) kept The correct answer is b) held. In the given sentence, "He has always been _____ in high esteem by colleagues," we need a verb that expresses the action of regarding or valuing someone highly. Among the options provided, "held" is the most suitable choice. To hold someone in high esteem means to have a deep respect or admiration for that person. It conveys the idea that the person is highly regarded or esteemed by their colleagues. The verb "held" perfectly fits in this context, indicating a continuous or ongoing state of being highly esteemed. The other options, "taken" and "kept," do not convey the same meaning. "Taken" does not match the context of being highly esteemed, and "kept" does not capture the idea of regard or esteem. Therefore, "held" is the most appropriate choice in this sentence.

"be given to" is a formal expression that means to do something often or regularly. She’s much given to outbursts of temper. He's given to going for long walks on his own.
@TheMaryaBell2 жыл бұрын
So..... how about the more correct:: "She was given to taking long walks" ?
@TheMaryaBell2 жыл бұрын
P.S: I'm suggesting this because the act of 'taking' (i.e. a gerund working as a noun) - was continuous, and in the past. Also, 'given to' is a phrasal verb; another reason the gerund is more appropriate than a 'non' infinitive!
