You know what The first part kinda reminds me of that "Boat Paradox", a old boat is always having its parts replaced by new ones and when all the parts are replaced, the old parts form a "new" boat, but thats the paradox: which is the original boat? The boat with new parts or the one which was recreated using old parts? Well, personally I think what makes this paradox a true paradox is because the boat isnt a living being, it doesnt have consiousness, but we, humans, have, we know who we are even if our body is replaced because of our neurons, thats my personal answer for this paradox
@dr.altoclef9255
@dr.altoclef9255 6 ай бұрын
I liked the Japanese answer to the paradox. Basically “of course it’s the same”…because it’s the same idea. It’s the same feeling. You are rebuilding your ship or your building, which has a specific purpose and a meaning to you. Thus no matter what new materials are added, it is still your ship because it was built that way.
@Eggyteevee

@@Eggyteevee Probably more spiritual than the original paradox was intended to be, but I live in Kansas where the weather can just decided “your house isn’t gonna be there anymore” and rip everything but the foundations up. So that’s my view as well. “Well of course there are new parts, the old parts are halfway across town right now. It’s still our house. We’ll still live here.

I always wondered where the body kept all the genes like is it in every single cell? I thought there would be a place where the original copy would be held or something like that.
@kiko3063
@kiko3063 Жыл бұрын
Yeah there's the same genetic information in pretty much every single cell of our bodies, though it is expressed differently depending on its function. As for having an original copy, I guess the closest thing would be the stem cells that we have in our bodies, since they are the most undifferentiated, but even them arent the same as our original cell so yeah

Yes. What is important are your memories and skills. As long as you retain these, you are still you. It used to be thought that from age 18 onwards all you did was lose neurons. Now we know that there is a constant trickle generated still. But more important yet are the CONNECTIONS between each neuron. That is what makes you, you.

I remember your videos from way back when you didn’t appear or speak. I must confess, I love your accent, I have no trouble understanding you, and this new format is a great idea, I think I prefer it over the past format. Videos where a host speaks to the audience usually connect better and feel more personal. This should be a great change for the better.

The concept of a replica and brain transplant yet still being susceptible to some conditions reminds me of the Doom Patrol tv show(it's like Umbrella Academy with half the budget but twice the weirdness of it. In fact, the Umbrella A. comics were inspired by Doom Patrol comics). In it, there's this Robotman character who is actually a man who had died in a car accident. Only his brain was "saved" and it was put into a robotic body. Long story short, he developed Parkinson.

That's why I like the Super Mutant idea of Fallout, they live indefinitely because their cells became perfected to the point that not even radiation can affect their replication. But because sexual cells are "half cells", they become esterile. Also some super mutant strains induce even more replication, which is incompatible with neurons, turning them into behemoths, massive creatures whose brains couldn't keep up with the transformation.

There was a story said in a Wanda-vision episode told by vision to the other vision. A ship was made out of woods, and everytime woods are damaged, we completely change that wood. After years, there could be enough wood to build exact same ship out of all the damaged woods, while the old ship has all new woods. So, the ship made out of woods containing the damages (memories) is the real ship now? Or the original ship, though not containing any of the original woods (memories) is the real ship?
