The easy way for me to remember how boards cup as they dry is that the 'growth rings try to go straight'. It's a simple rule that lets you know exactly how the board will cup.

Great explanation and demonstration Rob. It’s good to see you on KZbin. I hope all is well with you and your family. FYI - I’ve been off my woodworking channel and out of my shop since January. Pam and I have both been sick but we’re fine now. When she was sidelined I was very busy filling in for her and really too concerned to concentrate of fast spinning blades. I’ve also started a technology KZbin channel that’s taken quite a bit of my time. This week was my first back in the shop and I’m now in the process of editing two woodworking videos. I’m now eager to get back into the shop and produce some projects.

Explained to an old man that did not know this, and was extremely fascinating. When I could buy lumber, the price always won out. Now I can't buy lumber since I am in hospice and am terminal due to primary liver cancer.😢
