You are the only stylist to make me actually think about fashion in a personal and intellectual way! Love your real style.

Girl you are sooo right. I learn these things from my mom as a young child.Unfortunately this concept has been around since civilization started. We do judge on the outside first. My tip for you young ones if you do not have money go to thrift shops. My best couture clothes and good quality stuff comes from there. I am lucky to have good thrift stores.

I'm torn between dressing my worth and fitting in with the slobs at work. Any advice?
@stucumins85118 жыл бұрын
Absolutely agree. I always make an effort, dress to my worth, even when just having a home day. I think you call it self-pride. Thanks Lauren. Regards, Deb.

Obvs I love all your videos but I especially love this one. and it's 100% true, like it or not, you are judged by your appearance and you do the same with other people so may as well look your best. LOVE your videos. XO.

Thank you Lauren! Your advice has helped me take a look at my entire wardrobe and revamp it entirely. Especially when going to work or not. Im glad you mentioned people judge you before you open your mouth. It's true. Especially how you present and carry yourself. I'm a line cook and working in a kitchen full of men. It gets draining sometimes. At times I have to remind them that they have to respect me and I'm not "one of the guys" (in a nice way I approach them this way).

When one looks put together with nice clothes people think one is pretentious.

Love this topic! This is definitely my inspiration for starting my own personal styling business and blog for fashion and personal development. I'm working to get out of my own style rut and building my self-esteem. I want to help others do the same :)

hi Lauren , thank you very much for this video. You are such an inspiration to me. I work in an environment with only women and in the past I remember the mean girls say nasty things about me and my style. Just like the story you told about the style shamers in a earlier video. Your words give me courage to be fashionable and to show through my style the person I really am. In the past I did try to blend in and not to stand out , but your words give me the strength to let myself be seen. Thank you very much! Would you please make a video where you show your necklace collection ? I would mean a lot to me , because I admire you very much and i do love a beautiful statement necklace. Kind regards , Sofie

I just found your channel and I love your advice! I'm quite fascinated with fashion myself and I wanted to ask a question. So I'm going to be a Senior this year in high school and I finally got my first job at a local boutique too. I'm working pretty hard, I take all the hours I can get and work to make customers happy. I also want to get into a more minimalist aesthetic. To me that's means a leather jacket, white t-shirt, high waist jeans, and nice boots. I feel like every leather jacket look super cheap and doesn't look like good quality and same goes for boots. My question is that do you think it's stupid to invest my money in a Boda Skins jacket, and a pair of Alexander Mqueen boots online even though I'm still a minor? They're both used but I want to invest my money on clothes that will last. The total cost will probably be around $700. Both in pretty good condition but do you think that'll be too bougie for a high school student to pull up in a Mcqueen?
@LaurenMessiah8 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't ever worry about bougie - haters gonna hate, let em hate if they want to. Just make sure the pieces you buy are timeless that way you can always consign them later to make some of the investment back. Looking better at your job and the confidence boost your new goodies will give you WILL make you more money too :) Send pics if you get them!

Hi Lauren I like your style but you should go to a professional hair styler for a nice cut and color

It may be true that on a subconscious level we all have preconceived ideas based on how we appear but let me tell you as soon as you open your mouth you would be sure to blow your chances of success straight to hell !!!! Get some manners and use some tactfulness
