Hey! thats right but if we solve it from half base into height that also be correct exact 14 sq. cm if we costruct a triangle like this as i do by taking 8cms of base and from base creating a 30 deg. angle and make arc of 7 cms and complete the triangle then we draw a height very cleverly with the help of all main rules then we get exact height of 3.5cms and apply half b.h rule then on calculating 1\2*8*3.5=14 sq cms this means it is also correct i have drawn exactly same triangle as you. But if you think from an angle just on the triangle you made drop an height name it h given - angle b = 30 deg. c=7cms a=8cms you said ar(ABC)=1\2*a*c*sinB - equation 1 ( in triangle formed by droping height which has a side of h , c and some part of side a we got it as a right angle triangle here, sin(B)=opposite side(h)\hypotenuse(c) sin(B)=h\c) putting value of sin(B) in equation 1 we get ar(ABC)=(a*c*h)\(c*2) ar(ABC)=(a*c)\2 or ar(ABC)=1\2*a*c which is eventually half base into height

Good video. Although, if I am to be picky, the Area=(1/2)(base)(height) DOES work for all triangles, but finding the height is an extra step if it isn't a right triangle. The Area=(1/2)*a*b*sin(C) calculates the height within the formula.

Good question! All you have to do is first use the sine rule to find another side.( to use sine rule you need 2 angles and one side) . Now you have two sides, so you can use the above formula to find the area, hope that helps. :)

Guys what you have to do is split the triangle in half to get a right angled triangle with a base of 4 , hypotenuse of 7 and a mystery height . Then you have to take away base squared by hypotenuse squared to get height squared which you then square root to get the height , times this by the original base et voila , the area ! Hop this helped .

Thanks a lot for being so detailed, Can i ask 2 things??? 1. Can i divide this equilateral triangle from center and then calculate it as right angle triangle?? 2. Can i write the formula as A=1/2absin?? Looking ahead for your kind guidance
@didos4games7598 жыл бұрын
No 1 : you can't do that unless you know that angle C is also 30 , which means angle A is 120 . So use you protractor to find the centre/ middle of 120 and draw a straight line down to the bottom from that point. No 2: no you cannot write it like that

Why there no one is arguing that the formula 1/2xbxh is not the applied to the formula of the area of the right-angle triangle? I have learned that the area of the non-right angle triangle can be calculated using that formula (1/2xbxh) and this goes completely opposite of that guy in the vid saying that you can’t.

Hi and thank you for the explanation. I don’t understand what the purpose of the degree is if it isn’t taken into account. Like you said .5 divide by 56 divide by .5 The 30 degree angle does not come into account. So what will the purpose of knowing the degree achieve?
@Waldlaeufer702 жыл бұрын
sin (30°) gives you the 1/2 or the 0.5 respectively. If there was an angle of 60° instead, sin (60°) would give you 0.866 instead of 0.5. So, the angle matters! If the angle was 90°, then sin (90°) would be 1 and you would end up with A = 0.5 * base * height.
@bernardolopez80710 ай бұрын
Regarding my previous comment: I really do not know how/where I learned it, but I use it and it always work. I only need to measure 3 sides... Disregarding angles and h. Let me know where this came from, because to be honest I do not know. I just know it works when I use it.

Area is measured in in cm, m, km... Squared, cause you can't measure area with lines (Which are measure in normal units, no squared or cubed), also because the base and height are both in cm and multiplying a cm with a cm gives a cm^2.

If two angles are give how to we know which angle is Sin C?
@anniemoses94788 жыл бұрын
Yousra the angle your trying to find is the sinC, but if your not trying to find an angle but a side, then you need to use one of the two given angles inside the two sides (in these sides there is the one you need to find)
@Shep_c2 жыл бұрын
That’s not a right sided triangle, and therefore that’s the wrong formula. Easiest thing to do is split it into 2 right sided triangles, you already calculated the area under one (18) now you need to calculate the area under the second (3). Total is 21.

Unless you're in advanced math, Trigonometry is usually taught in sophomore year (grade 10) in America. I'm a freshman (grade 9), and taking Honors GST (Geometry, Statistics & Trigonometry). The sine is a key on a graphing calculator that helps to find the missing hypotenuse (the longest side) or missing leg (one of the other two sides) on a triangle. You would usually use sine by setting it equal to the opposite side of its angle to the hypotenuse. In other words, sine(angle)=opposite side/hypotenuse There are also tangent and cosine, which are the other main keys used in this function of trigonometry. Tangent's formula goes like this: tan(angle)=leg opposite to angle/other leg Cosine's formula goes like this: cos(angle)=adjacent leg/hypotenuse The other thing you can do with these signs is find the angles with only two of the triangle's sides. To do this, you input the sides like you did before, in fraction form. Then, you use the 2nd key at the top left of your calculator and press whichever button corresponds to the angle you want to find. If one of the measures of the triangle is a decimal, then you can divide them and do the same thing afterwards. 3/4->2nd->sin will work the same as .75->2nd->sin In math, when you use the 2nd button in this instance, it will be referred to as any three of the buttons with a negative one on the top right, in the same place as when something is squared, like 6 squared is 36. (The 2 would be on the top right of the six.) For example: EQUATION: sinX=opposite side/hypotenuse BUTTONS IN ORDER: opposite side/hypotenuse->2nd->sin You would do the same thing with cosine or tangent, but using 2nd->cos or 2nd->tan instead. Adjacent means the leg right next to the angle that is not the hypotenuse, if you didn't know. If you're really interested in math, I suggest you study what you have right now in class so you can get into higher math faster. I do recommend you bookmark this video, because this part of trigonometry is easy to forget. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!
