If anyone confused, this video is explaining the process of solving the area of a circle. To find the area you need the radius (R). Once you have that you need to take pi (3.14 or π) times radius (R) squared (²) so the formula of solving this equation is πr². Something similar to find the circumference (Half the circle) is done when you take Diameter (D) and pi (3.14 or π) and the formula to solve for the circumference (C) is done like this: πD. If you still dont understand it, look up circle song.

They don’t teach you this at school because it’s essentially wrong; it’s just a visual approximation trying to explain where πr^2 comes from, but in reality you can never square the circle, meaning you can never acquire a rectangle with an area that of circle, because you can’t have a rectangle with a side π (for simplicity assume r=1). Another way of looking at this is no matter how finely you cut the circle, if you look close enough you’ll see that the “πr^2” side is not really a straight line, only approximately! But that can put you in to thinking: if (again for simplicity) r=1 and you cut the periphery of the circle into Planck lengths then you might start questioning the infinity of π digits! Happy June 1st, everybody!😊

@@imanoobplayer3628 take any equation of circle for example ( x^2+y^2=r^2) , it's centre is at origin(0,0) now take the part in first quadrant , to get the eqn of circle in first quadrant modify the eqn as ( y= √(r^2-x ^2) ) , now integrate it according to definite integration as | y.dx with initial limit as 0 to r as final limit ,and then multiply the result by 4 as the circle lies in all the four quadrants , then you will surely get your answer as πr^2.

@@lethallohn ok, and how does it relate to rationnality ?
@lethallohn12 күн бұрын
@@Joffrerap I'm not an expert in mathematics, but I at least know pi was proven to be irrational. Irrational numbers have a never ending decimal and no regularly repeating digits. While you can't prove pi is irrational with say Archimedes' method of estimating pi, I would guess you could make a conjecture that pi is irrational based on the fact that you can estimate for pi forever and show that at least the estimated digits aren't regularly repeating.

Eh… whilst these aspects of math are interesting because they exhibit a visual nature, sometimes we have to simplify things by using abstract formulas. Math is much more than circles and time is much limited. I’m sure many teachers do show such visualised math problems, but it’s totally unnecessary since you cannot expect everyone to remember this when they could simply learn that A = pi * r^2

To anyone saying they learned this in school, the guy is talking about the demonstration, not the video itself but the actual maths behind it, this is a part of Calculus taught in 12th grade, it is the demonstration of integration. The equation would be something like this: A = ∫ 0->R 2πr dr = 2π 1/2 r^2 ∣ r=R r=0 = πR2 A = ∫ 0->2π R^2 dθ = / R^2 θ | π = 0 θ = 2π let x = R sinθ, y = R cosθ, dx = R cosθ dθ ∫sqrt(R^2-x^2)dx = ∫R cosθ R cosθ dθ = R^2 ∫cos^2θ dθ R^2∫cos^2θdθ = 1/2 R^2 ∫(1+cos 2θ) dθ = 1/2R^2 [θ + 1/2sin 2θ] integral limits: x = 0, x=R after sub: θ = π/2 θ = 0 (π/2 + 1/2 sin π) − (0 + 1/2sin 0) = π/2 A = 1/4πR^2 => this is 1/4 of the total so: A = πR^2
