Just saying, Lyrical Genius once again from this amazing band. Evidence... "Oh speak to me, you stones!" I can't reason why, but somehow this seemingly throwaway line resonated with me. Maybe its the desperation I felt in the tone of his voice, maybe its the fact that it gets my brain going trying to think of its meaning. I dont know really. Is he actually speaking to Stones? Or Stoners? Or just people who are stubborn (unmoveable like rock)? Or people who wont talk to him (because stones dont talk)? Is it a metaphor for feeling nothing but apathy or lacking the inspiration to create things? Is it a metaphor for relationships that lack communication? Is it a metaphor for drug abuse, or loveless marriages, or a government that doesn't listen to the people, or a faceless corporation, or a god who doesn't answer prayers? One line and yet so many possible interpretations. I haven't been in a while, is digital haunt wiki still going?

It's sad to be one of those fans who will always prefer the older stuff and finds it harder to listen to the new but I'm still happy to say it's enjoyable, it sounds a lot more inspired and professional than the old obviously anime-inspires stuff I can't wait to hear the album when it comes out
@Zappygunshot5 жыл бұрын
Again and again, when A11 releases a new song/album and it's in a somewhat different style than what I'm used to, the first time I hear it I'll dislike it. The second time, I'll still dislike it, but slightly less so. The third time, it'll come by on a playlist somewhere and I catch myself bopping my head to it. And by the fourth time, I love it to bits and can't get enough. That's how it went, from the moment I first heard 'em, back when they'd just released Blackline and the Yogs played Euphemia on a stream I thought "what the hell is this his voice sounds like arse." Then it happened again with Dream & Reality when they released AtLitS, and again with Hommunculus, and again with GO!, and In the Blind, and After the Flags, and so on and now with this one I just reached that "love it" threshold. I'm not really sure why I'm spouting this, it doesn't even have all that much to do with your comment, but I just needed to share it because it's interesting and funny to me. But yeah, A11's been my favourite band for years now because of/despite that.

With this song in particular I really didn't like it (mainly the vocal style), but I went back to it when I saw it in my recommended feed and I got a new appreciation for it. I now like the vocal style paired with the bass and synth. Curious what they do next with the ep.

This moved me in ways few songs have ever done. "Knowing smile `cause we'll make it anyway. Cling to me and my scars that prove it all."

I love that the first half of this song is entirely from the perspective of a character who's decided their best option is to die, and then the ENTIRE SONG MOOD shifts when "The Watchers gather in the sky" to this powerful inspirational chorus. The shift to a major key just makes that whole moment feel almost angelic. Who are the Watchers? No clue. But I know what they stand for.

For those that want to sing along Curtain Fall: There are some ways to wins The primal games we're in I'm bleeding out the toxin Waiting for the curtain Where white and black collide Ground one foot either side You're bleeding out your options No more words of Caution Back when I thought I was Built that way, just because I'm walled inside a garden Deep within an ocean Injects ideas with life Through fear and not despite Bleeding out my options Bleeding all the options Oh, you better believe The shadow haunting me It knows what I could be I can see The serpents inside me Contorting, warping me Finally No matter, time dethrones Oh, speak to me, you stones! I'm so tired of waiting For the bloated and deceptive Where white and black collide Speak truth reveal the line Bleeding out my options Bleeding all the options A cure to shame the disease The shadow haunting me It knows what I could be Silently The serpents inside me Contorting, warping me Finally I believe The watchers gathered in the sky. Don't let the curtain fall. Don't let the curtain fall. When you sink in the quicksand of the night Persevere 'cause I know we'll be alright Cling to me and my scars that prove it all Don't let the curtain fall. You ignite in the fever of the day Knowing smile 'cause we'll make it anyway Cling to me and my scars that prove it all Don't let the curtain fall.

I've gotta say, not a fan of this song. I mean i'll listen to this a couple more times and i'll enjoy it, but right now the song feels... underwhelming. The chorus feels like a build up to a chorus, when it first ended I was thinking "here it comes", and nothing. I really wish that the next songs they do are a bit harder. Maybe like the random bit at the end in EGAP, or something akin to Modern Synthesis.
@ytpanda3985 жыл бұрын

Not going to lie, I'm not a big fan of this - which sucks because I love a lot of A11's music. To me, this kind of feels like it doesn't really go anywhere? I'm not into ballads at all, and this song is quite ballad-y, so that's probably it. But in any case, I think I'll just stick with ATLITS, Underline, and MS. I haven't really enjoyed any of the songs since AYF/NM, they just seem to lack something that the older ones had. I'm sorry to be the voice of negativity here, but it seems like the rest of the comments are all incredibly positive and that's not the viewpoint I share. I'll keep listening to the new songs in the hope that I enjoy the other ones better.
@ytpanda3985 жыл бұрын

I have to agree. The new songs are okay, but they don't catch me like MS did. I still listen to some of the old songs and get chills, but these new ones lose their luster after a play or two for me. I want to enjoy them, but I'm just not feeling it.

@brendanlock50465 жыл бұрын
@@ava_3230 this is me saying that it doesn't have the same feel as their older stuff and that it doesn't feel like they had much soul in it. If you listen to some of their older songs with tge same goal, it works. This is sad because I can't enjoy it because it's not as good. I'm sad that it isn't good because I want to like it. Your ears are broken if you think it's the same, because they even said themselves that it wouldn't be the same. So, before you go questioning whether I'm a real fan, maybe look at yourself and whether you actually have good taste. Now then, fuck off.
