In my opinion the Royal Order Greatsword is within the top 5 Greatswords in game. I am also just a fan of the blue color for it too which is a bonus for me.

It is a fantastic greatsword to use comfy purple good damage and extra defence as a bonus what more can you ask for in a weapon

@@smurphy55656 also has nice slots. A rampage 2 slot which can fit Wyvern exploit. And a regular 2 slot and a 1 slot which you can use to max out Attack boost or Critical eye (or something similar)

rn my favorite GS is the royal order GS another comfy greatsword. its has good purple sharpness, 310 attack, 10 affinity, 50 defense 2 and 1 slot and 2 slot rampage slot very flexible and fashionnnn hunterrss

I've been going Royal Order for the most part but the Wyvern Gnasher + has 82 base Dragon and I've been experimenting with elemental + surge slash combo against monsters where it makes sense.

I would also suggest the furious rajang greatsword, lots of people are sleeping on it, but it's pretty much a very comfy weapon, high sharpness, high raw, 0% affinity and very good deco slots, + some thunder for some extra meat

I feel like we need to give the less used weapons a little more light. Seems like every time a new MH game comes out there is always LS,GS and CB videos galore. I know not just me and rurokin but others want to know some good GL and Lance videos. If we are making a wishlist for next “best of” videos. @@Sentinel82 seems like when on KZbin you just get the 3x main weapons and range weapon (bow/BGs) videos. Guess people want the carrots vs the sticks. I would say that the 2x Iron shields and hunting horns are the least popular of the 14.

@@ThePonderor True but keep in mind Sunbreak just released a week and a half ago and people are still playing through it with their favorite weapon from base Rise most likely. I've seen a few videos here and there showcasing how great the lance and hammer is. Unfortunately, I think the gunlance still got done kind of dirty, though it is way more fun in Sunbreak.

As much as I like my GSs to have massive cool factor, the Kamura tier 10 top all of these above by a miles, having very generous sharpness, slot and dmg. Correct me if I'm wrong.

i am using the Azure Blaze greatsword, though i believe the Kamura tier 10 is an equally strong option, i like the look of Azure Blaze GS. On my current setup, i out dps my friends who main longsword and light bowgun. I love surge slash combo, find the tackl tackle TCS meta for greatsword to be boring and surge slash adds a lot of flavor

Head Piece is from the Snowshear armor set, rest is Heavy Knight Armor set. Snowshear is aquired automatically once your Meowcenaries bring the special items from Citadel explorations. Heavy Knight set you need to get to do Follower Quests with Arlow I believe was his name.

Monster Hunter (and maybe Dark Souls / Elden Ring) is the only game that makes you feel like you're using an actual Greatsword, everything feels just right, the weight, the impact, the damage, the lag between animations, for me it's the authentic Guts experience, since other games specially in RPGs and FG just swing the thing around like it's made out of cardboard (I'm looking at you, FF7R) I really love the new combos Sunbreak added, I may be picking GS again since MH4U

I dont know Monster Hunter weapon math but I have been curious about elemental greatsword considering they gave it some switch skills with some faster movement. Im certain its not meta by a long shot, but does anyone know if its halfway decent?

Elemental Greatswords are great in Sunbreak. The 3 main ones are Goss Harag, Anjanath and Jyuratodus which all have 350 base atk with varying negative affinities and level 3 gem slots with a level 1 slot except Goss Harag which has a level 2 slot but all three has level 2 rampage slots.

Status GS is good too. Chameleos and foray make for a nasty monster mashing mix, its great! (note only works on monsters that can be poisoned, ps it's all of them)

For charging style, the motion value of charge attack just always make raw tramples over elemental damage far far harder than any other weapon types. Also for the type of "elemental" GS like from TDS's recent vid, it is not elemental GS at all it just your everyday raw GS but now with some tiny weeny element dmg sprinkles on top, since you don't even bother to invest into any elemental dmg in those builds at all just raw raw and raw. For Surge slash, I have very negative view on it since the damage aint make it worth to use in the same time frame compares to charge attack, while the element mod is not even that good. you can use it for meme status GS i guess but it is meme worthy at best

I got to say, this list is lacking. Gore Magala GS is very good. Royal Order GS is amazing (and probably the most popular among the GS user at the moment) the Kamura Kleaver is also one of the better ones out there and easiest to craft. The Garangolm GS is slot heaven.

If you want to stay aggressive with anomaly monsters you need to hit their red glowing parts and it will cancel their anomaly burst altogether. And I believe the damage is true which can't be mitigated. Can't remember where I read that though.

It's an elegant weapon for a simpler time and very accessible to access after you hit MR 10. I mained Greatsword at the end of Iceborne for AT Valky, but didn't click with it at the start of Rise and went to Switch Axe and Charge Blade. Then I was like "hey I should give GS a go again" the other day after my first Affliction quests and have been using it after rediscovering my GS love. Esp. with my "far too much affinity + handicraft build"

I don't think high base crit chance GS are good anymore because thank to Shagaru Magala head or leg, it's whooping 20% affinity and 2 big slots and it's hella easy to activate with strongarm stance + TCS. That make a lot of weapons that has high raw, low affinity/slot in this game usable with crit boost

I wouldn't really put the narg GS that high, it doesn't even have that much purple sharpness(so it'll mean you'll have to put in handicraft which kind of wastes a slot that can be used for offensive guard or something else). i honestly dislike how you glossed over the royal order GS and the gore magala GS which is honestly better than the shagaru magala GS due to the level 2 slot which allows for a good deco like CB, CE, AB or WEX and the higher raw damage, sure affinity is good but with a good build you can substitute that with CE, WEX and epidemic life... Granted this was your opinion, i just thought I'd give mine too
