Omitting the bike draft from the algorithm was the best decision they could have made. Hope that sticks, or at least a substantially mitigated draft effect.

I think I preferred the original format with 3 mass starts. Also not sure about the no draft on the bike. Good racing tho.

How accurate is the running to real life? I personally would believe that if this was ran on the road we would have different results. Correct me if I'm wrong

they said in the race in Germany that's the most accurate system. i never tried it.

@@haroldurban8088 I have ran on the Technogym curved mill and I feel like runners with a long stride with a heal strike would have a lot bigger advantage than they would on the roads

The speeds don't match the times! The women never ran quicker than 20km/h (which is a 3 min km) yet their times were sub 3 mins? Anybody understand this anomaly?
@haroldurban80882 жыл бұрын
@@towiva i watched the time when beaugrand start running on the first run. she began on 8:45 and ended on 12:05 it makes 18km/h which seems correct with the speed shown on the screen. is strange that after the commentator mention a 2:45.

The way Beaugraund outran everyone including Potter is not only outstanding, it's also kind of suspicious... maybe they should randomly change treadmills after every round or something to be able to spot if there is something wrong with one of them...
@drym39432 жыл бұрын
She did the same during qualification rounds. And she didn't have the same treadmill.
@martinvardan60402 жыл бұрын
@@drym3943 How do you know? in results from the heat, it says she did 3:06 and 3:21... (just a little bit slower than Potter..) it's a huge jump to 2:45, that's why I am curious

Remember in the heats they only had to qualify for the final, nothing more. I was at the race and felt Beth dug very deep on the bike in the first race with some big power surges, and probably paid for that. Beaugrand rode consistent power (c270 watts) on all three races and then trusted her run. I think her long stride suits the treadmill too. She was very impressive and outswam everyone too, including Jess Learmonth.

I think you are raising suspicion where there is none. There are official referees checking everything. Don’t take away the shine of her glorious win?

Beaugrand’s running is obviously her strong suit, and I’m sure that in a 10 k road race she would be in the world Top 10…

I don’t think they should be allowed to stand up and pedal since they would never do that in real life because of the aero loss. It just seems to create some weird racing when they are allowed to do that
@o113782 жыл бұрын
It’s the same for everybody so no disadvantage at all

How on earth is riding out of the saddle from time to time weird? Have you ever watched a short course triathlon or pro bike race?
@jimmcewen89942 жыл бұрын
Of course they stand up out of the saddle! And also in the 'real' world they draft which was turned off today 🙄
@OldHunters2 жыл бұрын
What are you talking about and have you watch any bike races before? cycling out of saddle for a lot more power is so common in a real race. you overrated aero.
@vozzen2 жыл бұрын
My point is that standing up and pedaling is a huge aero disadvantage, but on Zwift this is not penalized. You use different muscles when sitting vs. standing, so by alternating you can produce more power than just by sitting. This is why FTP tests are done in a seated position.
