Thanks for the video....i was struggling for days trying to get the Springs off using a Harbor Freight overhead valve spring compressor on Mopar 440 heads, where the device hooks onto the springs and one twists to tighten.....no dice..... I ordered a large scissor type spring compressor like the one in the video, i managed to get two springs off but the valve compressor ended up bending.... probably because i didn't know how to use it. So i bought the Harbor freight Maddox spring compressor AND I read the instructions First: unscrew the valve cup and bottom valve screw so it fits over the head, then lock down the spring compressor, make sure it is centered over the spring AND valve bottom. Leave the spring compressor loose. Second: Tighten the valve cup that goes on spring, so that the spring compressor is snug on valve centers. Make sure the valve cup that goes on spring and bottom valve screw are centered!! Third: Start cranking the bottom valve screw until the valve keepers let go.

Great job Rod the Tool Guy!!!!!! I was looking at getting an OTC version of this but now that I see ARES actually has a REAL car guy who properly demos the tool in incredible detail with great camera work too, Im getting the ARES. That is a monster, its a lot wider than the OTC version. Im guessing you could really do some monster heads with this, by the way, the ARES version is less expensive as a bonus. Be looking for more of your videos. Great Job my friend!

Thanks for the informative video. Will this work for big block Chevy performance heads with 600+ lbs of open spring pressure?

Hey! Sorry for the delayed reply, but we wanted to double check the rating for this. We don't recommend this in this capacity, as it is too much pressure.

Holy $hit, that's a vw 9a (PL or KR (it's probably a KR) head!!!! I've been struggling with my intake valve keepers for days now (believe it or not I'm actually building a turbo ABF clone) and could really use one of these compressors, I just finished my post secondary education and have the short-block completed but since moving home I've decided to disassemble and inspect the original 8v head from the ABA that I was planning to use. I knew that the head already had a 3-way valve job, paired with a healthy port and polish but in my final couple months of school I was able to purchase a Megasquirt 2 ecu along with a pristine VW 9a long-block with only 40,000kms, a ported and polished head, and European ABF cams. Seeing as the Megasquirt has been built and programed for an ABF turbo clone (2.0L tall block 16v), I would much rather install the 16v head and avoid using the OEM Digifant 2 ecu. Is there any way that the lovely folks over at ARES would be able to help me with this build by supplying me with this much needed valve spring compressor and a few stickers? I doubt anyone else has recognized this head before and you would really be doing me a huge favour that I would really like to repay by displaying your company and brand on the side of this 1991 Wolfsburg Jetta and my future projects that include but aren't limited to my 1992 Golf GTI 16v, 1995 Wolfsburg passat GLX (Syncro swap), 1958 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite, and 1978 Honda CB550 Four K3. Since moving home April 5th, 2023 I have been doing small engine repairs and maintenance for friends and family as I believe you should help the people that have always been there for you. I hope to start repairing, maintaining, and modifying Golf Carts for a few of my mom's friends and acquaintances this summer but because of school, I am in a rather difficult financial position and could really use some assistance in procuring this tool that I desperately need. I ordered a couple of parts in January of 2023 for a cost of $764.86 that never arrived and that has left me in a rather difficult position financially and I could really use some help. If you folks have taken the time to read this I really appreciate your thought and consideration, I look forward to hearing your opinions and thoughts on the matter and I hope that this message has the opportunity to be seen and heard by those that might be able to lend me some assistance on the matter. Sincerely, Greg
