72 year old and she can still bring it. Not many can claim that. This is what you call a stone singer. The Queen Of Soul forever.

I have been captivated by her voice since I was a child. I KNEW she could feel my pain. I am white and I feel exactly what you described. :(

What amazed me so with Ms. Franklin is that she could mix gospel and blues together and it was needed and so appreciated she was singing to the grace of God at this time because the cancer had went into remission and she was just rejoicing and glory be to God!!!! I have always appreciated the fact that she she shared those uplifting testimonies with her fans! She is greatly miss

This is one of her best performances since 2007 RESPECT. I love when she stays out of that falsetto. Aretha still has an amazing chest voice. We'll never know why she sings in that falsetto so much.

Terrific. Thanks for posting. What happened at the end of this? I know she was starting another gospel piece but did she continue it? Just wondered because she was speaking to her conductor.

I was there. She led a "Holy Ghost Dance". It is a tradition of southern American evangelical services. A physical expression of worship to the living God. An outpouring of joy in and gratitude for His very existence. To one not filled with the holy spirit it may not be understood. To one who is it cannot be denied or ignored. By this point in her life she knew she was dying. She had gone back to her spiritual roots and worshipped at every performance. She always did this song as a reminder that all she had or had done came from Him. And a celebration that she would soon return to Him. :) With perfect love to you, my Brother.

I'll be be honest I haven't liked the way she has sang this song in the last 8 years but this is probably the best performance I heard her sing this in years.
