I've heard many criticism about Aretha leaving her church musical heritage. That she should have recorded more gospel instead of worldly music...perhaps. Aretha Franklin could never have recorded a better gospel album than "Amazing Grace". Any gospel album recorded by her would have only been chasing after her success of Amazing Grace. No other gospel album would have stood up to Amazing. Simple a masterpiece! Even her secular music cannot out shine Amazing. In 1987 she recorded " One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism" it came nowhere close to Amazing Grace. Aretha' vocal chords were touched by God in that particular setting. Anyone who don't get it, I pray that they will. Personally I have never heard a better cohesive gospel album. It sounds just as awesome today as it did when I first put it on a turntable in 1972 and playing it still in 2019. This is how special the album is..Aretha was given the coveted Pulitzer Prize for her masterpiece in 2019. I thank and praise God for using her in this special way. AMAZING GRACE HOW SWEET THE SOUND .

I went 2 days ago to see the film and, I knew in advance to bring tissues. I should have taken a roll of paper towels instead. Any who are planning to see this film at a public theatre, know in advance, you are not going to view a movie...you are attending a church service and you will be transformed! This is not a simple film to be entertained by but, an awe inspiring, soul stirring experience! Although I was hesitant at first, due to reading Aretha did not want this film released to the public, my soul felt compelled loving Aretha the way I do. I sent up a short asking of forgiveness from her and as I travel by public transportation, every bus and train arrived in a heartbeat as to say...come on girl, you don't want to be late! I took that as a sign from Aretha telling me...it's alright. Perhaps that's just me. May you reign forever Aretha!

Agreed. I bought the DVD for my dad, who's a musician, and also battling Stage 4 cancer. Unfortunately, he's not felt good enough to do much of anything, let alone watch the DVD, but I'm hoping he does soon. He's originally from Detroit and he loved Aretha!! He's a white man with so much soul and I pray he pulls thru. Please y'all, say a prayer for my dad. I love you, Lee!! ❤️

For most people stricken with cancer, it is a long, sorta drawn-out thing, unless of course the person opts not to go the radiation / chemotherapy route, of course. For a while there, it looked quite bleak, doctors saying he'd be lucky to see his birthday (late September of this year), then it was anended to he'd be lucky to see Christmas, which we are coming up on here in a handful of weeks, but I'm thrilled to report that he's eating and walking on his own without too much discomfort, which is great to see. His doctors say that in the end, he won't survive this, as the cancer has now pretty much overtaken both of his lungs and appears to be on the move to other organs, so we're bracing ourselves for the inevitable, really, but so grateful to have more time with him. Mom and Dad have been married 30+ years, together for not quite 40, so it will be devastating for Mom when be does pass, but like I said, we're thankful that he's been given these extra days, if you will. Thanks again for your comment.

A beautiful love affair I had year's ago with prayer and God I spent a lot of time by myself praying and writing trying to understand myself and trying to forgive myself for drinking sometimes or not at all but using a stimulant to punish myself beat myself up actually. I believe... I AM SIS. LAZARUS...DEAD 8 MIN...I was gone...the doctor forgot about a paper that was in the room and was not important. He was going to go get it after the morgue took my body. He passed the room again and GOD told him to go back in and get it. He went in and I was making a noise he looked over and I was breathing.. he said barely and it was funny but I was. Was in a coma for 19 days and was not supposed to be normal again or independent but here I am...i have issues and problems because of the timing but who cares...GOD said I had other things to do...
